That is an outstanding analogy.
That is an outstanding analogy.
As a former St. Louis resident and Rams fan, that last line is especially true. I haven’t watched a game since 2015. I’ve never enjoyed football this much!
Welcome to the club. I’m from St. Louis...
St. Louisan who lives in KC now...yeah we deserve it, especially the douche in this thread.
I’m a Cardinal fan too.
So what?
I highly doubt that. The owners box is quite a ways up from field level so even if someone shouted it from there you wouldn’t hear it on the field. Plus, based on the pictures of the Hunt suite, I don’t think it’s open air.
But my point was if Sprint Center did have a sports tenant they won’t make any money which immediately makes it a terrible deal for KC and KC taxpayers (of which I’m one of!). Did you even read what I wrote? The NHL wants Calgary to pony up for a stadium for one of their teams. KC doesn’t have a team, therefore a…
Louie CK put it best: “It’s not an accent, it’s a whole city of people saying most words wrong. It’s just stupidity in a massive region.”
I live in KC and Sprint Center is a terrible comparassion. Sprint Center makes money because there is no tenant. If there was an NHL or NBA team in there it wouldn’t make any money because those 41+ days a year would be tied up for games and not for other more profitable events.
Yes, Calgary should not fall for this BS. St. Louis fell for that BS back in ‘92 when they signed the lease with the Blues for the Scottrade Center. From a previous comment I left:
“The Flames don’t want to pay rent. They don’t want to pay property taxes. And they don’t want to pay for demolition costs. And they want the City to pay for half of the stadium build.”
This reminded me of Archer’s underwear gun.
Yeah, I’ve never even been to Canada (though I imagine it’s a far better country than this one) but even I get goosebumps as I watch their fans belt it out before hockey games.
I don’t know what the capacity of that building is, nor do I know how they compute attendance (ticket sales or turnstiles, etc), but if 17,000+ is to be believed that’s a pretty strong showing in a new market like Vegas for a preseason game. I went to the Blues-Stars game in St. Louis and I bet there was only about…
While we’re on the subject, the Canadian National Anthem is WAY better then America’s.
I haven’t read Dave Lozo in years, pretty much fell off the hockey blog bandwagon when I deleted Twitter, but I always enjoyed reading him. Maybe a good fit at Deadspin?
“Wow, the St. Louis police force is all of America’s police fores are obviously racist, reckless, and untrained. Seems like the Feds could step in and clean this up. Who is our Attorney General again? .... Oh fuck, well, this won’t get addressed until at least 2021.”
I live in KC and would be curious to know which suburb you live in. I’ve lived here for about 10 years now and I actually very rarely see pro-Trump or “Country Thuggin’ (LOL) type signs and phrases around town. Granted I live in KCMO proper (Plaza) and commute to Johnson County each day. So I live in a nice wonderful…
The Royals aren’t good anymore.
