It’s the responsibility of the automaker to commit enough resources to make the car desirable to more people. Asking more ethusiasts to spend money on a product they feel is in complete is ludicrous. It not our job to first invest in the car, hoping one day they will commit to improving it. Then we have to repurchase…

That may very well be true, but most Americans don’t get to regularly drive on twisty roads. They are usually stuck in Traffic where added power and tourqe is more valuable than sublime handling. The Toyobaru needs more tourque at least. Those twisty roads would become even more fun as well.

I would choose a Golf R. Small, but rooomy and practical with that hatch. Fast with great handling and awd, just in case your caper is in inclimate weather. It also looks mostly like a normal golf so you aren’t attracting all kinds if attention.
