Ok so i will go ahead and take the sexist role here. It’s most likely his wife who feels “we need something big and safe!” “Lets get a crossover!”.

This was my thought as well. I think its possible that some people buy these cars based on their reputation, and wanting to lead them into a high mileage life.

theres just something about the 918....

We need less jails not more. One of the biggest waste in tax dollars is jailing black males over marijuana.

He clearly takes 3 steps on the drive from the top of the lane.

Taking three steps helps cover that ground in the paint.

Versa owner?

Because most people just go to the lot and buy whatever. Or they go looking for a durango, but find they can’t afford it. Then its, “hey take a look at this Journey!” by the salesman. Then the impulses take over.

as expected. They certainly don’t sit on dealer lots though, and it’s hard to get a deal on one. Check how much they still sell for used, and that will give you an idea. VW is not trying to sell 500,000 of them. Limited #’s  are produced. Again its in its 4th straight generation and isn’t going anywhere.

I doesn’t sell poorly. It sells in the lmited quantities it’s expected to. As I said before they even considered making a more expensive R400(hp) to sell in the US. It obviously sells well enough to keep VW happy and make them consider expanding further.

The problem for me with this car remains the price. I’m fine with the lack of power, and basic Interior. However, charging $27,000 for that stuff is unreasonable. It should be priced Right around Fiesta ST territory, $21,000.

The R!???? Yes you are quite mistaken. The R has been around for like 20 years now. It started in the Mk 4 model with the R32, and has always been sold in the U.S.

I agree the GTI would be my choice over both unless money was no issue. It’s 85% of what the R is for a cheaper price, and is more than enough performance for the street.

Yeah but ford doesn’t offer a good Dual clutch, and for many thats a reason to choose a Golf R. In its fastest guise, the R is just as fast. Don’t penalize the R because the RS doesn’t have a Dual clutch.

A US golf R starts at around 36k

5.2 is with the manual. Dsg does it in 4.5. you can merely look above in this article, or among the hundreds of other sources who have reviewed the car.

Depends on what you really truly need. The Gti is a blast, and arguably the best car you can buy in that price range. It has more than enough performance for the street, right out the box. It can easily be tuned for even more power.

A Golf R with DSG transmission is just as fast as a STI or Focus RS regardless of what horsepower numbers say on paper. The germans often sandbag their HP numbers or report wheel horsepower. Its actually probably a few tenths faster to 60 than the sti still when equipped with a DSG. All 3 are in the neighborhood of

Why not go for an early model scion TC? This cars true spiritual successor.

This album is fantastic. I need to break it out again.
