Nope, they're doing that with mouse pups at the lab where I work. They're pretty good at it too.

No, that would be a seriously inbred kid, and if the baby survived it would be extremely disabled. Most of their genes would be homozygous, and considering all the bad recessive genes and mutations we all carry around, that is not a good thing. Charles II of Spain was lucky in comparison.

Nope, never had one. I was thinking about the methods for getting one though. If I tried that it would just keep me awake or make me sleep badly. And I really need my sleep. :/

As a lab tech at an institute for basic medical sciences, that last sentence make me very happy about my work. Especially since I seem to care more about reproducability of experiments than the researchers a lot of the time...

"No censorship" isn't the same as "everything is socially acceptable". In fact, you could probably make an argument that if there is no censorship the actual controversies will be more controversial because they aren't being censored out.

This is so true. It's nice to work in the animal department because we actually get to go home at four and get overtime if we have to overstay. All those poor PhD students are working themselves to death though. Whenever I'm tempted to go back to school I just peek at those guys and get back to work...
