Later Gen Z and elder Millennials had the same thing with the 60s (came back in fashion in my early teen years) and most Millennials with the 70s (later teen years/college).  It’s just the 80s turn, time marching on. 

There’s two bits with slightly different circumstances

For people in our age group it was generally derided as an infantilizing trend most frequently flaunted by manic pixie dream girls and rich teens. More of an aspirational trend for people who confused feminism with hating men.

I didn’t really care if my brown lawn was pissing off my neighbors or not. It wasn’t their water bill that would be affected nor their sweat to mow it more frequently.

I will be sad if I can’t see Thor: Love and Thunder in the theaters but it will really depend.   We’re racking up half a million cases a day in the states, people.

James Bond’s origin story is WWII. I would honestly probably be very happy to watch a scrappy young Bond moving around Nazi occupied France sabotaging things and collecting intelligence. But the fantasy that is Bond moving around opulent and foreign settings is very much a direct sequel to war, hardship and rations.

I don’t want anyone to know how disgusting my fridge is or the hoarding going on in my freezer.

When people hang up signs in their home that read “This is a home of love” or “Live, Pray, Laugh, Live, Laugh, Love, Pray, Laugh, Live, Eat” who are they talking to?

I don’t know why anyone expected anything else. With no one willing accept basic measures to stop the spread (like closing restaurants and halting travel) and others not even willing to accept the baseline precautions like masks we were always going to end up here.

At my college we didn’t do jungle juice, there was a different thing where a bunch of stuff went in a very large pickle jar with a ton of ice and had to be shook for 20 minutes before drinking.  But everyone drank out of the jar so still too gross for that pandemic life.

You can go quite a few days without eating if you’re healthy. I don’t think this is as important as, say, water. Unless you have a medical condition that requires management of your blood sugar. Unpleasant though. So it’s a good idea to keep snacks on hand, but for most it is probably lower priority.

Oh yeah it’s ridiculous to have a lion as a pet.

What if you need a positive test to get out of work or otherwise stay home? What if it would be difficult to isolate unless your family was convinced or you needed to take advantage of programs to isolate out of your home? Additionally, people at risk of complications want to get tested ASAP because interventions like
