What a great review. Thank you for calling out Chalk’s great performance.
it’s worth a watch for the CGI flying cows alone. Oh, and Bill Paxton (RIP).
Or Jane Campion’s The Piano.
The problem here is that the Jezebel staff is too young to have known Holly Hunter and Jodie Foster when they were young (in Foster’s case VERY young) actors making their mark in excellent films. Their confusion is clearly generational
Thanks! Back at you. Here’s hoping our car (red pinto wagon?) doesn’t get smashed into the ground.
No,no--you are right-- it’s good. Not really my brand, but the premise, acting, sound design and swoopy/mobile camera were so, so good.
as the right kind of messy as well.
My mom and I loved Pier 1 for pillows.
I can never not hear the words “Pier 1 Imports” in Dan Aykroyd’s nasal monotone.
calm down. I was being a bit facetious.
am reading Nobody’s Girl Friday, which focuses on the role of women in Hollywood in the 1930s and 1940s, and it’s great. The sections on Bette Davis are reason enough, alone, to get the book.
would not pass the Bechdel test, but it’s still an amazing film. The performances are arch.
Re Westworld, omg I know. I really loved that series and defended till the bitter end of season 2 which I enjoyed despite its faults. But damn, what a waste of tremendous talent in season 3.
Not an excuse, but Bundy didn’t know his mother was his mother until he was older. He thought she was a much older sister (at least I think this is the story).
Thandie Newton’s work is incredible
I love Robert Townsend.
Thanks for this:) Made my morning.
Whew. And I’m not even from Massachusetts, I can only imagine how relieved Affleck must feel.
Nicely written--really great review.
