I think some of the changes are simply due to the fact that, increasingly, writers can’t/won’t imagine that they are writing for an audience that may be different than they are. Hence, articles are filled with jargon and shorthand that only an insider would know.

Hmm, so DeVos’ Christian Reform Church has its roots in Dutch Reform but differs in its approach to prosperity/salvation (which are more aligned with evangelical Christianity).
