Deja should have been read to FILTH for that outfit. That was one of the worst looks that wasn’t part of a sewing challenge that I can recall. It seemed to me she and Jorgeous got very similar critiques for the challenge but Deja’s look was MUCH worse. Does the runway not count for anything?
I agree that the runway was a letdown. And I just couldn’t get into Deja’s garment, which should have been 8-bit ‘80s blocky, pixellated, fun, but read as cheap and tacky. And overpowering, as has come to be usual for the season, but in a boxy way.
No asked for totally Random ‘pinions:
Willow has excellent taste and she’s also really good at playing the game. Honestly I can’t think of someone who has gone through a standard season as smartly as Willow has - she’s consistently among the top queens of the week but hasn’t racked up wins, she doesn’t seem to stress being ‘safe’, and she’s succeeding in…
UK vs the World: slouching to the crown! A truly chaotic season that doesn’t seem to be making anybody particularly happy. Hopefully it’s the death knell of the lipstick eliminations, a fun twist in AS2 that now has kind of undermined what kind of show it wants to be.
Hot take: This episode was interesting and entertaining and so joyful! I thought my favourite bit was Bosco’s Gurren Lagann-style yellow sunglasses, but then that lip sync was so much fun, I wouldn’t have been able to send either of them home either.
I loved Willow’s appreciation of Daya’s cutthroat attitude. Willow has excellent taste.
The Ru-Ru’s, Bangleru’s, Runanadrama and the Pointru Sisters.
I’ll post this again here: Change the format to winner saving one of the bottom two. I think this will generate less online hate.
One thing about all stars is that you cannot blame the queens on playing the game using the rules of it, and I see that the (odious) fandom forgot it this week as they forgot it when Naomi Smalls did the same some years ago. Not sure how this will develop but anyway two simultaneous drag race is what keeps me going…
Loved it. Many of the girls lacked the big naive sweet smiles needed for these groups but nailed the coreo feel. Rupaul elimination felt fair for once in a long while. And Daya is so happy with her villain edit!
I have a regular discourse as I am obsessed with pop culture which is: you can see a clear evolution of cinematic language, you can see a slight mainstreaming of the gameplay bits, but in the last two decades pop music has stalled hard, super super hard. And not only girl groups: I am a gay old clubber and it…
Thanks. Your Drag Race knowledge is better than mine. :)
Honestly, have they ever left someone’s mic on after they’ve sashayed away?
It was depressing to see that the queens could only reach back twenty years or so ago to name any girl groups at all, and you could tell that Angeria felt she was really stretching back to the stone age for that SWV name drop. No Go-Go’s? Bangles? Bananadrama? Pointer Sisters?
We need to talk about Drag Race UK vs The World.
Kerri’s outfit and makeup were so unrelentingly repellent that I had to look away on multiple occasions. What?! How?! I’m sure that garment was expensive, but it was both ugly and crafty, and showed a surprising lack of taste. Maybe she found her old Creepy Crawlers oven in the basement and decided that she could turn…
My theory is that this week’s UK vs the World got a bit trapped by being a Drag Race UK series, because they can hardly have two UK queens be eliminated in a row now, can they? And so, Baga (who should have been in the bottom) had to be safe.
I've only seen a few clips but I'm glad that Jimbos madness is being better showcased here vs Canada's Drag Race. And I hope somebody crashes the set and rescues Jujubee as she is obviously being held against her will
