Upvote for Nitzer Ebb, for both the great song and the memory of the Billboard article in the 90s which interviewed Anton Corbin. When asked about music he listened to, he mentioned NE, who Billboard was apparently so unfamiliar with, they spelled it "Nights Zareb."

No shuffles from Capt. Fartypants or I today, as we're currently on the road home after a few days in Denver. As a substitute, here are the CDs (yes, we still pack a bag if CDs for road trips, don't judge) we'll be listening to on the way home, in no particular order:

As someone who spends the entire months of October and December in holiday socks (I even did an Advent Calendar on Facebook a couple of years ago with pictures of my Christmas sock), knowing that there is a subscription service for fun socks may be dangerous. Like I need any more; I have a whole shelving unit

I saw her in concert a few years ago with Liam Finn, and it was a great show.

That is one of my favorite Lush songs. Well, all of Split is pretty much my favorite, but the opening and closing songs especially.

That reminds me that I really need to add some Strawberry Switchblade to my iPod.

Marilyn Manson – Golden Years
The Ditty Bops – Gone Fishin’
Ouici – The Farewell
Joy Zipper – 1
Laura Veirs – Where Are You Driving?
The Be Good Tanyas – Crow Waltz
The Creatures – Turn It On [Live]
Guns N’ Roses – Paradise City [skipped, because I wasn’t in the mood]
The Choir of Trinity College of Cambridge – In Paradisum

I saw this on video back in the day while I was actually working at a record store, and haven't seen it again in the nearly two decades since, so much of the actual details are lost on me now. However, I do remember being really underwhelmed by it, and being particularly irritated at how it got the whole working at a

I've Been So Mad Lately is the best song for singing along to at top volume when you're pissed. A coworker and I started using "eat the corn" (from the "You can eat the corn out of my shit" lyric) as code when people irritated us at work.

Interesting. That was one of my favorites, but to be fair, I first read it in high school and I haven't reread it in a couple of decades.

Goon Squad is amazing. Totally loved it.

Read Harlan Coben's Tell No One in one damn sitting, it was so twisty and propulsive. I had previously seen the film adaptation, but it had been several years, so I had forgotten a lot of the details. My first Coben, but probably not my last.

I read that in book club, and was a little worried at first when he just seemed to be naming random stuff from the 80s, but ended up liking it a lot once it kicked in.

Man, am I the only one who liked The Regulators? Yes? Fine. It is my burden to bear.

She gets better every album, which is impressive when you start out of the gate with Tidal.

Nice Milkmen double play! Also love for Ambulance.

Glory Box is one of my all time faves.

Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs – I Wanna Hug Ya, Kiss Ya, Squeeze Ya
Neko Case – The Next Time You Say Forever
Torres – Cowboy Guilt
Elastica – Annie
Cocteau Twins – Pearly-Dewdrops’ Drops
Metric – Sick Muse
Richard Cheese & Lounge Against the Machine – Margaritaville [only his lounge stylings can make this crappy song

I hadn't either until I ran across it at a used book store. So thanks whoever traded it in.

Well, that's disappointing to hear. I've picked that up, but hadn't started reading it yet.
