The very cynical, hyper-critical, elitist part of me responds to the first sentence of your second paragraph by pointing to the pre-strike slates of the most profitable studios. And recognize that those slates are based, in large part, on audience interest and box office. One of the most common criticisms of the MCU

One would think that the prerequisite for a comedy show would be, y’know, actual comedy. This just seems like a whole bunch of insufferable Gen-Y “it’s funny because it’s not funny, and that’s funny” abused irony.

Iconic. Rarely has “mind your own fucking business” been communicated so effortlessly and effectively.  I’ve seen so many actors try to do the silent intimidating thing, and just doesn’t usually work.

Yes, that’s absolutely what happened. Not that the show was terrible and even people who are normally into his particular style didn’t like it very much and amazon saw that coming and decided not to waste marketing money on it.
