Ugh, I had to pick up my kid early from day care once because the power went out at the day care so they closed early because the building was freaking hot. My boss gave me shit about picking up my 1 year old early, taking sick time for the rest of the day and then gave me shit about bringing her in when he wouldn’t

So tired of politicians “helping women” in ways that hurt them for the sake of their own personal views.

he is a predator

What an insufferable prick. But who’s surprised? There are just some hate-filled meat sacks out there with nothing else to do but profess their purity and goodness above everybody that is not them.

I’ve lived in Québec and in BC. Québec has universal child care. BC doesn’t. I’ve seen what a huge difference it makes. Universal child care in Québec is not perfect, but it’s better than nothing.

We have it in Québec too. My sister pays $10 per child/day for a public, unionized childcare centre. If you send your kid to a private centre, which is around $15-20 per child/day, you get a tax credit.

Comparing her to Ann Coulter was dead-on. Unless all you lived for was attention, good or bad, how can you be a woman and hate women like she did? How can you have a gay son and hate gays like she did? How can you preach for 60 years that liberalism, social, sexual & political, was ruining our country and then support

If the e-mail was sent the next day he was almost certainly not to blame. Most common illnesses have a longer incubation period than that; a cold is at least 48 hrs and the flu is 1-4 days with 2 being the average.

I work for a Fortune 100 company, so I’m aware that my experiences tend to be outside of the norm. That said, many of my colleagues will bring their children into work when they either fail to obtain alternatives or for special occasions (working half day before long vacation, and so on). They usually end up playing

How the fuck could one kid get everyone sick? I know some pretty energetic germ farms aka children and even taking enthusiastic nose picking and that seems like it would be difficult.

Wow, you are truly #blessed!

That’s a fast incubation period

I don’t believe “companies stepping to pick up the slack” is why healthcare is so fucked up. Insurance is why healthcare is so fucked up.

We have some parents that bring their kids in for a few hours. usually when school is closed and we aren’t. If they are non-exempt; the parent’s stay at home and are allowed to make up the time later in the pay period.

I don’t even buy that “3%” of workplaces have them. Fuzzy math, likely.

We had a very similar thing happen where I work. But paradoxically, the amount of sick leave we have taken over the year is a big factor in our annual performance reviews. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t.

It kind of drives me crazy when working from home is offered as a parental leave benefit. I understand it offers a lot of flexibility, but it doesn’t solve the main problem of child care. It’s not like you can skip day care and take care of your child all day and work your job. I mean, how could you do conference

Can’t really blame companies for not wanting to get into the daycare business. It’s not only expensive but there is opening up to liability. And they are devoting all these resources to something that isn’t their main function.

Hey but Trump said if you can afford an au pair he’ll give you a fraction of your money back!

Yes. For something to disappear, it has to exist in the first place. I’m pretty certain 99.999% of companies do not offer this, and the 0.001% that do are “unicorn” companies that must treat their employees as actual human beings.
