I actually had bad dreams about those pictures. The one where the child’s skeleton was so distorted! It just breaks my heart to imagine what the fetus and the mother went through.

I don’t know. I think it’s easy to be brave when you are ignorant. As more comes out about this disease I think lots of those “think of the children” people may find their anti-choice stance is more nuanced than they realized. I could be wrong, of course. I often am.

There was a terrifying article in the NYT on this. Zika fucks a fetus over in so many ways. It is a terrifying disease. Terrifying.

Health care in the U.S. is a disaster. In 2014 the maternal death rate was the second highest among the 31 OECD countries. In Texas, the maternal death rate doubled from 17.7 per 100,000 live births in 2000 to 35.8 in 2014. The maternal death rate in Germany is 4.1.

Not in your country, anyway.
