I just hope this has the effect they intended and gets the gross press off their backs a bit.

I do not blame them one bit. The vitriol spewed at her is vile and toxic — and absolutely racist in many cases. Getting out of the line of fire and away from a country that loves to openly and viciously hate some of its public figures is brilliant. I love that they are taking this step to dial down their royal profile

She not only ignored her, but she let someone else speak up instead of her and engaged them. Classic teacher move.

My very Democratic-active-in-the-party SIL doesn’t like her because she’s “preachy”. I think what she reads as preacy is a woman who know what she’s talking about and trying to convince idiots of that.

Why is Elizabeth Warren not the front runner over her lesser rivals.  And yes, I said lesser.  She’s smarter than the two other front runner hands down.

Just

Of course Elizabeth Warren has the best plan for dealing with Meghan McCain. Ignore her. Democrats tend to engage bad faith arguments from republicans in the name of bipartisanship. But Elizabeth Warren knows she is never going to convince Meghan McCain of anything.

This hit home. Trisomy 13 is common in my family, most of my sisters had multiple miscarriages from it. When I was pregnant the first time, I lived in Denver so I was “safe” if the genetic testing came back positive. Now, trying for #2, I live in Montana. The closest abortion provider is 77 miles away and could have

They don’t care about nonbinary and transpeople either. If they don’t give a fuck about women, why would they care about nonbinary and transpeople? Religious zealots and many anti-abortion activists equate “pregnant person” with “woman.” Pregnant nonbinary and transpeople matter even less than pregnant ciswomen to

Wouldn’t matter to them.  It’s all part of “God’s plan” to them.  They only want complete control over women and nothing else.

Find some statistics about many babies die say within a month of birth because of birth defects. Learn the names of a few conditions and find out the cost of keeping a dying baby artificially alive. Confront these assholes with how brutal real life can be

“You’re putting women in this position of increasing their risks of death and harm needlessly,” she continued. “Why are you risking this woman’s life? How unimportant is a pregnant person’s life?

No one goes through this process seeking a “perfect” baby. It’s about reducing certain, unnecessary, legitimate suffering for both the fetus and the mother.

I remember talking to an anti-abortion protester and asking him (because of course he was a him) “what about situations where the fetus is nonviable?” Then I had to explain what that means, that the fetus was never going to be a living human, or at least not one who would be alive for longer than a few painful hours.

It’s not “imperfect” it’s nonviable, that baby is not going to be a living human being for very long or not at all. Sure, I suppose you could force the individual to continue with the pregnancy, then go through the medically dangerous and emotionally harmful process of giving birth to a baby that won’t live, while

People aren’t terminating pregnancies because of imperfections. The three I know did it because two of the babies had chromosomal abnormalities and several serious birth defect and the third had an untreatable heart condition that would mean death within moments of being born. These three pregnancies were very wanted

Unfortunately, it’s because bringing up an “imperfect” baby as a reason to terminate becomes a double edged sword.

More stories like this. One thing I’ve noticed in the abortion debate is that people often bring out “rape, incest or the mother’s life being in danger” as the holy trifecta of reasons anyone should condone abortion. Fetal abnormalities are almost always missing, but they are the reason behind the vast majority of

“These attempts were rejected by Colorado voters. Yet for 2020, state activists have proposed what they see as a more moderate proposal, one that they believe will be much more palatable to voters: a ballot initiative to ban abortion at 22 weeks.”

I had an abortion at 20 weeks for a chromosomal abnormality and I cannot imagine having to go through it in a state that refuses to treat women like human beings. I made the decision based on conversations with my OB and a doctor who specializes in chromosomal abnormalities. They were able to give me the information I
