I think the other commenters point is that this thing wasn’t intended for repeated hard braking that occurs on the ‘ring. In the real world, it can do 99% regenerative braking only needs its brakes to be able to do hard braking infrequently, not multiple times within a couple minutes.

That’s a good point, it seems like one option as a compromise could be at each station having some chargers that are capped, and some that will go to 100%. Sort of the equivalent of grocery stores having normal and express checkout lanes. That way if someone wants 100%, it’s available they just might have to wait…
