Yeah, there is so much bullshit going on here - thanks for pulling up the streetview. There is almost nowhere for anyone to walk without being on the roadway, and that whole reflective clothing ordinance is some ridiculous “blame the victim”thinking. 8:00 is not even fully dark. Sunset on that day was 7:45 and civil

When I was learning to drive, it was hammered into me repeatedly that even if you are driving legally and even if a pedestrian is jaywalking, YOU ARE AT FAULT IF YOU HIT THEM unless it was literally impossible for you to stop.

Now playing

4 minutes of rabbit-induced terror and not a single frame of Anyanka?

Jesus! The story makes it sound like they were basically walking down the middle of a highway. This is a residential road, in town, with houses around it; how the hell fast was that driver going? How is he not being charged?

Nothing says “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” like criminalizing poor people for not wearing full night-time construction crew gear. Never mind that there aren’t street lights on that street (because that ain’t the dang government’s responsibility!)

So I googled the road that the boys were walking down and this is what it looks like:

I’m good with it.

Ernie, you are a goddamn hero.

Hear, hear! Kinja definitely sucks and I’ve spent countless hours bitching about it, but Ernie is a truly good guy.

Ernie is the best, don’t bad talk Ernie to me. Ernie is beloved. He contains multitudes.

As a long time Kinja user, I promise it’s not nearly as bad as y’all fear. Mobile’s kinda gross, but to be honest I had way more issues with Disqus than I ever had with Kinja.

No I’m not telling you my previous Kinja name.

The comments highlighted in the cartoons are too over the top racist to illustrate the point. It’s the subtle racism, along the lines of the response that my father-in-law tells us every time we say we’re going to Chicago on business - “You’d better be careful there. That place is dangerous.” - that’s far more

Yep. Considering this country was built on the idea that the lives and livelihoods of POC don’t matter, that they’re expendable. It should be obvious that BLM means hey assholes our lives matter, too, it would be nice if you finally acknowledged it.

I really enjoyed Paul Ryan’s exchange with the Catholic nun too, where she essentially called him out for being a shitty, fake Catholic whose actions are the very ones the Bible preaches against.

“Well regulated” is a qualifier that gets dropped all too often.

A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.

Paul Ryan is the worst kind of politician. One who knows better, and consciously lies to get what he wants.

Paul Ryan honest re-write:
