Sure, as a plot device on a television show, that makes sense.

Yeah, oncologist and a bioethicist at NIH. Hopefully it’s just what you said; definitely happens that the integrity distribution winds up lopsided in some families.  Given his career focus on ethics it may be that he wound up with the lion’s share naturally... and also may have, well, grown up with some really rich

Dear lord, I hope none of the horrible traits in that family passed to their other brother... always thought Zeke sounded like a pretty fascinating person, to be honest.  Pretty brilliant, anyway - hope he doesn’t have underlying jerkiness tendencies...

Um, I just realized that after reading (and watching) this thread in the middle of the night last night, I sleep-deprivedly ordered the DVDs of seasons 1-5 of Designing Women. For one-day delivery. And I think that was one of the best sleep-deprived decisions I’ve made in a while.

Having been that friend many, many, many times - thank you for being so thoughtful and kind. I’ve often felt pretty much invisible in those situations. Even if your suggestions haven’t been taken, this Internet stranger feels good knowing some people do think of it. I bet that friend appreciates it, too.

And potty training. Yes, it’s a big deal. Yes, you’re proud of your kiddo - and you should be! Yes, you’re excited to not have to change diapers anymore - and you should be! I’m excited for you!

Totally agree. If you’re my friend, you’re important to me, and your life is important to me. Invite me to the birthday party! I’ll come and happily bring your kid a gift! I want to actually know your kid, too, and not feel like I’m just being used as your night-away-from-the-kid friend. I’d like to remain a full

Yup. I feel like everybody kept saying it would get better after the first few years, we the childless had to just keep being the ones to make the effort while the kids were newborns/toddlers and then the parents would suddenly start to return calls again, etc. Nope. They all re-centered their lives around their

Poaching. I feel like I’ve heard a bunch of different recommendations for how to do this. Anyone have a method that’s reliable and not horribly challenging for someone who hasn’t ever poached an egg before?

To piggyback on this: by “unedited” he could also have meant “uninterrupted” - which could have meant he didn’t want Jez to provide context along the way, or would have substantially limited their ability to present the transcript in a coherent way where the context, meaning, and validity of it were readily apparent

Unfortunately it’s environmental in-utero. A child is born with autism. Which is the worst nightmare of any would be parent.

OMG Stassi’s little brother!! I want him on Watch What Happens Live. Just him and Andy, analyzing scenes.

My dog does the same thing - sits patiently looking up at the counter, tail wagging, when he sees me get out the popcorn popper. Only plain air-popped popcorn for him, though. I set his aside, comb through to make sure he’s only getting fully-popped pieces, then salt/butter the rest for the humans to eat. Popcorn

I’m so sorry for your and your family’s loss. He sounds like such a wonderful person. Not to mention, incredibly talented. I’m so sorry you’re having to read all these random comments from internet strangers. Please know that lots of us are sending warm thoughts and condolences to you and your family as well.

I miss you, Kozmo.com. And UrbanFetch.com. Your business models were so fabulously silly, but I loved your services so.

Awesome, thank you!!

What? Sounds like I need to watch this immediately. What is this called?

Ahhhhhh I just posted the video clip of Tim Kaine’s questioning without realizing that was literally what RegalAlien had quoted to start this thread. DUH.

Now playing

Yup. She thinks whether to comply with IDEA (a *federal* law, mind you) is “an issue that’s best left to the states.” Tim Kaine questioned her on it. Go to 3:45 if you want your blood to boil and head to explode.
