Yup, that’s been my experience, too. Lots of parents do distance learning and homeschool their kids and have success - but the ones I’ve seen have the most success have been kids who have been pretty motivated to learn themselves and haven’t needed instructors to modify the curriculum very much.

Yup, and did I hear her correctly, that she said something about distance learning for kids with special needs, too?

Um, Megan - did you mean to say Senator Murphy instead of Senator Murray (who was also at the hearing and also did some good questioning but is from Washington State, so her questions were a bit different than Sen. Murphy’s)? There are a couple of times in this post when it says “Murray” when I think you meant

I love that. My only question for you is- are there students in your class for whom it could be a hardship to earn that extra credit? (Kids whose families may not be able to afford a trip out to the movies, kids who don’t have someone to take them [not sure how old your students are]...) If it could be a hardship for

AAAAAHhhhhhh REALLY??? Wonder if it tastes as good as 12-year-old me thought it did...

Now I want cheese, too. It’s 1am. We can’t all be losers, can we?

I think I was the only person on the planet who liked Crystal Pepsi back in the day. I remember feeling sad when it failed and they took it off the market. I used to drink it without irony - think I was in, like, middle school.

I un-starred this comment just so I could star it again. Yes to ALLLLLL of it.

I don’t think this is an “either-or” - I think this is a “both-and.”

Interesting - hadn’t heard/seen much about this as of yet. Thanks for mentioning; will have to read up on this more.

Bannon.

I know, I totally did! I totally had a thought while I was typing about saying, “I can’t believe I’m about to #notallpsychologists you, but...” - but then I didn’t because I don’t know you and it just seemed completely inappropriate for me to be the one to make a joke about it! But, well, yup. :)

My experience is that my psychiatrists and psychologists have been some of the most judgey, critical motherfuckers I’ve ever met!

YES YES YES. The house we moved into has black appliances and I love them. Black granite, too (not at all opposed to this granite bc it hides messes and is easy to clean), so they go together so nicely and don’t scream “trend.”

You’re not the only one!!! I HATE them we bought a house last year and I thought our realtor must have hated me because I refused to look at any house with an entirely open floor plan. i want to be able to have holidays where I can check on food in the kitchen (or just breathe there) without everyone being in there

I remember that. To the credit of, well, pretty much most people (as far as I can recall, anyway), I believe that was the exact moment when everyone began to inch slowly away from Ted Danson and his career started to tank.

PS- I’m with you in terms of content here on the post- just trying to figure out if there’s any way to turn off the auto-play stuff. Someone has to know. Would really appreciate it. Thanks.

For the love of g-d, how do you turn off auto-playing gifs and videos in an article? Does anyone else find this insanely distracting and sit here trying to read while holding their hand over the monitor? Makes me feel like I am freaking seasick while I am trying to read with all that motion. HELP.

I’m so sorry. Wanted to say I agree with everything $7coffee said - there is no right way to feel - allow yourself to feel however you feel, whatever range of feelings that may be, and please be gentle with yourself and try to care for yourself. It’s okay to seek out support if you have friends you want to be
