Oh no doubt. It takes a lot of time especially since the audience for any such message ranges from ‘I’m a semi intelligent person who has no clue regarding programming’ to ‘Computers are powered by fairies who use pixie dust to make images appear on my screen right?’.

There’s really two problems at work here.

I wonder how many of the people commenting on this story are actual professional developers or have ever dealt with feature creep, unrealistic VP demands, paid down technical debt, and all of the inglorious crap that actual, professional developers have to deal with.

I’m a game designer here with 10 years in the industry. The fact of the matter is the commentary is spot on. I’ve had people threaten me simply because I re-balanced a weapon. The excuses of promises made and features unrealized is just the cover people use for being awful. It’s just a game. Just like a movie isn’t

This is also super prevalent in the WoW community. Devs announce a new PvE raid: PvPers tell them to fix PvP. Devs announce PvP balance changes: PvE-ers complain that X class performs poorly in raids and should be fixed.

Long time dev here... sometimes DLC/expansions are things we wanted to put in the game, but were cut because we didn’t have time to polish the feature/level/etc up to the level of quality we wanted for the game. Sometimes it’s entirely new content. Devs don’t really think about cutting something from the game and

Sharing progress, seeing what others are doing, talking about the ups and downs of development and so on are my favorite thing about working in games, but yeah talking about it just invites abuse, no matter how you approach it.

Let it go

Way to take that quote waaaay out of context to serve your personal point of view.

Many words have meanings that are socially-assigned, and they change over time. Examples generally come from common slang, like “rad,” or “cool,” or “sick” to describe a thing that is good—when the original meaning of those words meant

If NINTENDO can claim copyright on anyone making videos of Mario-related gameplay.

First off, you fuck off. You jump into the conversation attempting to claim some sort of superior knowledge of copyright while spreading a bunch of manure around and want to use the word IDIOT in relation to someone who actually has a fucking clue?

Seriously people, vote with your wallet. Don’t like microtransactions, don’t buy them. Clearly they are lucrative and someone is spending the cash, otherwise the concept would have died with horse armor.

Because it would mean he was wrong about his stance, and that he’d have to accept that sometimes minor changes are made for good reasons. And that good localization is a job that requires nuance, understanding, and dialogue with the artists rather than making a bunch of assumptions.

yep...the problem was definitely on the outside, mama june.

did you see who we made president or

OH MY GOD YOU’RE RIGHT. You cracked that case wide open!!!

McQuaid’s recovery really isn’t that impressive when you consider that Gordie Howe took a skate to the neck, 5 minutes into the 1st period of game 7 of the 1955 Stanley Cup Finals, which completely severed his jugular and caused him to bleed out and be pronounced legally dead right on the ice at Olympia Stadium.

Are you people fucking kidding me? She physically adjusts her seating while mounted depending on the camera and you’re complaining it’s not realistic enough for you? For fucks sake people will nitpick about the dumbest shit.
