I finally caved and spent the extra $$$ for boots made of real leather, because I was tired of having to spend even more money (cumulatively) replacing my boots after every season because the cheaper “vegan leather” would fall apart after less than a year of wear. I’ll keep these boots forever and just get it repaired

I gave up on The Root after yet another argument with men about how Asians and Asian women were somehow treated equally to white people. Like, nah, dude. Just cuz we’re fetishized doesn’t mean we’re not going to be shipped off to the camps just the same in the end.

All cultures have aspects that are unsavory. For example, Japan’s obsession with youth culture that can translate to pedophilia/ephebophilia (sp?). All cultures have racism/xenophobic issues as well, they just have different conversations about it than Americans.

Oh man, we in the Asian community should absolutely do this when yet another white person decides to write a fictional novel about people in China/Japan/etc during [insert time period here] which is inevitably loved by other white people. At least nowadays some Asian voices are finally being heard but it was basically

That photo looks like one of those “something doesn’t belong...” memes.

I vaguely remember that! Amazing what old rich privileged men get away with. Also, ugh.

““You are there a traveller, and young boys and girls were trying to pull you in the street and jump on you under the benevolent eye of the police.””

I have two sons and a husband who are all apparently allergic to pants. The kids I sorta understand, they run around a lot and presumably get hot from the exercise so clothes are a sweaty inconvenience. (I too get hot easily but deal with it by wearing layers.) They at least have the sense to put on additional layers

What an unfortunate place to grow a lipoma. But it seems to be um, a self-contained thing. I didn’t watch the video cuz ...not a fan of her cyst and lipoma stuff, give me blackheads any day, but looks like you could inject some anesthetic and snip it right off?

Considering that all of Trump’s actions in the Middle East so far has shown that he does not give a single fuck about American lives put in danger, perhaps they think this won’t be a productive line of questioning.

So...my question is, this seems to be a fairly straightforward act of war — on a third sovereign country’s land, to boot. I know in the last 20 years the powers of the president to start/conduct wars has been a bit nebulous and for the most part abdicated by Congress, but in a direct escalation/declaration of war like

It’s amazing that people will fall all over themselves to defend a guy they don’t even know and who doesn’t give a fuck about them. Liking celebrities is one thing, but realizing they’re people too who are capable of great evil and great good but with more money and opportunity to do it with, seems to be a hard

Y'know, it's an axiom among distance runners that you should always carry toilet paper with you on runs in case you need to kip off into the bushes for a bit.

My kids poop on a schedule. Unfortunately it takes place about 10 minutes before we have to leave for school! Ugh!

I’m sure it can be scheduled, just like how my husband very suspiciously and conveniently needs to go take a shit right after I’ve asked him to do something like washing the dishes...

Oh, for sure. And it’s nearly impossible to find any doll more specific than “Asian” (cuz all Asians are the same) nor one that isn’t simply the original Caucasian doll but with different coloring.

When you have to carefully curate the color of your clothes so you don’t just disappear into the frothy, chaotic background.

there’s a whole thing online nowadays with ball joint doll collectors...they treat the dolls like they’re alive too. Different strokes for different folks, I guess!

I remember wanting one in the 90's SO BAD. And then I realized that there weren’t any dolls that represented me (Asian) which kinda blew the entire ‘get the doll that looks like you!’ thing out of the water. Also my 1st gen parents were absolutely not going to be dropping $100 for a doll. I did enjoy reading the

I would totally be okay with soy milk not having a surcharge. Us lactose-intolerant folks need an affordable alternative and nowadays it’s about the same cost and availability as regular milk (at least where I live) whereas coconut and oat and etc is still rather niche.
