I'm kind of partial to Mark Ruffalo freaking out and bailing on the rest of them at the end. :)

Hey, thanks - I'll have to keep my eye open for that series!

Nice article. I'm always fascinated by the origins of technology; some of the most interesting ones are definitely from unexpected lines of research. There's no telling how going after one problem will end up solving another problem in an entirely unexpected way.

If you haven't already, try to find a copy of Larry Niven's classic short essay entitled "Man of Steel, Woman of Kleenex." Hysterical.

:) Thanks!

Porcupinian.

Well, they could do the black contact lenses and throw in some nice CGI glowing fx to get the Vision's eyes looking correct. The rest of this bust looks dead-on.

Thought so. Thanks for the confirmation.

Thanks :)

This looks really cool. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

+1 :)

Ahhh, so you're just exercising your rights as a troll! Congratulations.

iBooks, Kindle, Safari, Zombie Attack! 2nd Wave, "The Elements," music app, Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Marvel Comics, DC Comics, Image Comics, Dark Horse Comics, (sensing a theme here :) ) When my wife snags the iPad from me, she uses Safari, QVC, HSN, ShopNBC and JTV (yup, another trend.)

Bet they end up really rugose.

That was a wonderful articulation of the many, many Crimes Against Anatomy that Mr. Liefeld's perpetrated over the years. I think it's perfect evidence to bring up at the next trials held at The Hague.

Love that story! :)

Another of the great authors gone. What a bummer. :(

It's not just a matter of shielding - remember, every ounce/gram of extra weight costs in terms of fuel and comes at the expense of what science instruments can be loaded. It's all a matter of trade-offs and finding the right balance of capability, cost and survivability/reliability.
