*shudder*

Sooooo very almost. :)

Could be warp would be limited to high-priority stuff... FedEx/Amazon Prime/etc. (tongue firmly in cheek :) )

Same here. I'd like to see a whole group of kids get excited about creating something. Who knows which among them might go much further with this kind of support and encouragement?

"The Misfits of Science."

Hence "Phantom" ;) ;) ;)

Wish "City of Heroes" had lasted long enough for this!

Yeah, thank you! I was wondering why this hadn't been mentioned.

Plus, it didn't hurt that he's a terrific storyteller :)

I picked up the compendium of Joss Whedon's run. Good stuff! That's pretty much th only X-Men I've purchased in many years.

One of the worst mistakes ever made was resurrecting Jean Grey. It took away all of the poignancy and tragedy of her and Scott's relationship. That, and the ridiculous proliferation of "X" titles, all trying to cash in on the cachet that Claremont, Byrne and Austin had created. Marvel just couldn't seem to realize

Describing them as being in a "bubble universe" sums it up nicely. They could and often did go about their world saving without any interaction from other heroes, which helped sustain their outcast stigma of being mutants and not generally accepted by anyone else.

I've often heard the X-Men described as science fiction, especially when they had any interaction with the Shi'ar Empire. Serious space swashbuckling at its finest!

Loved Dave Cockrum's work, including The Futurians. I wondered where Smith came from ... Thanks for the background info on him!

+1

I blame encroaching senility on Six from Sirius... My bad!

Holy crap. That thing is beautiful!

Yup. Byrne by himself, while I like his style, tends to go for really skinny body forms; Austin appears to flesh out his sketches a little more fully. Didn't he do Six from Sirius, too?

Yeah. There's really never been a better artist/inker duo.

Spindrift was also the name of the suborbital craft that got accidentally warped to The Land Of The Giants in the TV series, mid-to-late 1960's.
