Citroën SM
It’s a tie for me. Can’t chose between these two.
How about these?
of the ones I’ve driven I got really found of Renault Clio, it’s just an econobox but I liked how the french design around simplicity.
1990 964 Carrera 4. I’ve owned it for a few years now, and it does everything very well, and gives you all the right “feels”. It’s my “daily”, and will probably be so for a long time.
Mitsubishi Star Wagon Super Exceed, with Crystal Lite roof.
Honestly, Mazda6 Tourer with a 6-speed stick. Possibly with the diesel option.
PSA (Peugeot Citroen) mostly. It does help that the most recent car I ever bought is from 2000, so I can ignore the Malaise Era (~2003 until ~2015).
The more I learn about Citroen the more I think I am going to have to own one at some point. The quirkiness and style is just too much to pass up.
Right there with you, never got to drive any of these, and it’s one of those bucket list things for me. I’m not very curious about the 2CV because I daily drive a Renault 4, which mustn’t be so different in terms of driving experience, but I dream of driving something like a CX or a DS. I had an uncle who was firm…
I soometimes think that no two GS’ had the same dash!
Well spotted. The GS did have that kind of speedometer in some models, coupled with a somewhat more conventional tachometer.
I’ve been patiently waiting for the day you’d write an article on the awesome dashboard in the GSA (improving on the already amazing GS dashboard). I’m a Renault fanboy but I have no problems conceding that Citroën used to have the best dashboards and steering wheels.
It’s like an early check engine light, but more extensive as it includes the brakes.
I actually, owned a GS, but an earlier vintage.
Jason, this is from a CX, not a GS or GSA:
Question for anyone who can answer it: What does the “STOP” light that always seems to be in French cars mean? “The engine will irreparably break down if you don’t pull over, right now”?
The third picture is a CX, with the little glass tube telltale for the LHM fliud too the left of the ignition keys. Push the button with the oil can sybol next to it and the fluid should come between the etched lines on the tube.
Please take me out of the greys...
