FTFY

>>>Ah yes, the Essjaydubyas<<<

It’s a social justice warrior seeking approval, don’t pay it any mind.

In fairness, Alan Moore is a cantankerous old fart who denounces everything these days.

And you like everyone else should get the fuck over it. but thanks for “woman-splainin” it to me.

OK, while the insinuation that a discussion about the way Barbara Gordon is treated in this comic (and the rest of the DC titles, really) is something bad that should be avoided *really pisses me off (because fuck you, people, women read comics and they have every right to talk about female characters and the

Exept that wasn’t the case at all. That story was NEVER going to be explored again. It was a cover that paid homage to the story of the killing joke and Barabara’s history with it. It’s supposed to be upsetting. It’s supposed to be unsettling and scary. That was the point and it succeeded for that reason. They pulled

Respectfully disagree; episode was anything but forgettable, and Benoist knocked it out of the park.

Reading through these replies really makes me miss io9.

I don’t watch this show. I know nothing about it. But this doesn’t bode well for interesting storylines in general. If the writers have to base every story on which characters earn the most viewers rather than what makes a good story then they just won’t write good stories.

Ex: while I would be sad if Game of Thrones

I don’t understand how people don’t see the result of this kind of backlash it sends a clear message to creators “DONT WRITE LGBT CHARACTERS, THE FAN BASE WILL ATTACK YOUR SHOW IF YOU DONT FOLLOW THEIR RULES”. Pretty sure thats like the opposite of what they actually want. #killcreativity

Agreed, this is a dangerous trend. My friend is gay and she took it personally. I tried to console her, and explain there were story reasons for it, but I don’t think she’s watching anymore.

I think the show lost one of it’s best characters, but I think showrunners should be allowed to..run their shows.

So basically, the media is now trying to moderate the storylines of actual creators with hackneyed rules and regulations about the “diversity” of what characters are allowed what plot arcs.

Shhhh! Your use of logic will just cause the PC social justice warriors to hurt their brains.

So they cast a white actor to play a white character...the entire MCU has been pretty true to the comics so why should this be anything different. Isn’t it racist to assume a character who is deep in martial arts should be Asian?

Whenever there is stunt casting, it’s more distracting than anything else. Why Asian, why not Brazilian then? The “he should suddenly be Asian because he’s involved in martial arts” is more asinine than anything. Complaining that a character that has always been white being played by a white character is a non-event

Going for that low hanging fruit social justice comment, eh?

Yawn, he’s white. He’s always gonna be white. I’m enjoying you fuming over this. He’s white in the comics, he’s white! The only race swap has been Heimdal in the MCU. And part of the charm of what made the Heroes for Hire was the contrast of their characters

Kun Lun is an alien city, not an asian one, so would would the actor need to be anything other than as portrayed in the comic?

You do realize that the character has been white since day one. Why should it be a surprise or a disappointment? This isn’t whitewashing. If the character were traditionally Asian, that would be a different story.
