That’s not how any of this works. Conferences can’t just be eliminated for football’s playoff. They exist for a lot more reasons, and even if everyone was on board for such a scenario, there would be light years of red tape to cut through in television deals etc.

I’m pretty sure the Power 5 would make more money with a 16-team playoff. Hell, the 16-team playoff could fill up the coffers of the other conferences and still put more money in the Power 5 pockets. It makes no god damn sense at all.
