Nice shoutout for Saab. I am a recent convert and admit I carry the zeal of the newly devout. I bought an even older (2005) 9-5 wagon for under $6k and it purrs nicely. Saab’s display layup, even sans HUD, is pretty amazing.

I can count on one hand the number of cars that I think look really good as sedans. This is one. The rarity just makes it sweeter. The styling cues that take it from “meh” to “great” are all very subtle, too.

One more reason it was ahead of its time. Now it seems standard to make highly complicated infotainment system that tie up multiple systems in a way that a car will be stranded if the radio fails.

The 93 was even ahead of itself. My 07 came with Bluetooth steering wheel buttons before Saab even offered Bluetooth as an option.

My friend’s son just bought one as his first car. I took it for a spin, and thought to myself “If this was my first car it would have been wrapped around a tree.” Good thing that kid is the oldest soul I know, he is entirely too old-man like to get himself into trouble driving it.

It pains me that SAAB is dead, yet BMW’s “GranCoupes” are flying off lots.

Yeah, true enough. But Saabs actually had some cache and desirable qualities. Back when the Elantra GT was ripping off Saab, Hyundai’s reputation was cheap shitbox cars, and I was still like “hey...fastback!”

Full size work trucks. Its absurd how expensive trucks have gotten. Want a stripped out, bare bones, V8 4x4 F150? $32k. Who needs fancy leather in a work truck, and who wants to spend $32k on a work truck.

I’ve been riding since I was a kid and have known a lot of riders. Only one bad injury and no fatalities amongst all of ‘em over my lifetime.
