“with specific aspects of fundamental Islam apparently causing them the most panic”

By the way, after a quick skim through the other comments here, the level of vitriol and hatred and hyperbole and moral panic is staggering to me. This place used to bring me so much joy. There used to be people with great senses of humor and fascinating takes on tv, movies, etc. I can’t believe the level of discourse

“Without the baggage of his political views—which is where the letter grade on this review comes from”

So does this mean someone who freelances like I did last year will get paid instead of doing hours and hours of daily work for free? Cause that kind of sucked.

“I felt the same way when They Might Be Giants decided they were a kid’s band.”

Well, as someone who likes Frank Black solo more than the Pixies, that was a tough thing to read. But please check out all of his solo albums, they’re all great. Headache is nowhere near my favorite song on Teenager of the Year. And the Catholics were a better live band than Pixies was, based on the bootlegs I’ve

Maybe Lady Bird isn’t supposed to set an “example” for anyone but just be a movie about flawed characters?

So do you only seek out reviews that agree with your exact sensibility or do you think you’d ever have some insight to gain by reading an alternative perspective? You didn’t like Three Billboards, but maybe one of those reviews can make a compelling case for it? And if you think all white guy critics loved the movie,

73% of movie critics being male, is this some insidious unfair result of the patriarchy, or just that it’s more something that males are generally interested in and pursue? Is anyone preventing women from being film critics? I’m not trying to sound contradictory, but is there any data or even anecdotal evidence about

Ok, useful things not on recaps apparently anymore?:

“and childishly screamed at him that “at least I still have a TV show!””
