Indeed, but they have scripts in hand. It’s hard to say how many drafts these scripts already went through, but they were approved for filming. Unless major re-writes are called for during filming (like, something really, really doesn’t work once they start filming), there are not likely to be major changes. Writers

Full disclosure: Pretty much everything I know about what writers do on set I learned from watching “Action”, the short-lived (13 episode) TV show from 1999 starring Jay Mohr. This might not have been an accurate portrayal, but it was amusing.

I want writers to be able to make a decent living writing, and I know that I benefit from what they do. That said, there would have to be a dramatic change in the quality of the dialogue on HotD for me to notice the difference. That might not be the best example of the sort of thing we should be looking for.

Ahem, black and green vomit.

One of the best, if not the best, story song ever written.

This is to say there are many documentaries that include wild, impossible, and outrageous claims. People usually don’t officially object to them unless the claims are dangerous. Is making an inaccurate claim about the race of Cleopatra (or choosing a nonwhite actor to portray her in reenactments) dangerous, so

The documentary as a form or this one in particular? There are documentaries that claim the pyramids were built by aliens and that the Loch Ness monster is real.

This. There are so many outrageously inaccurate portrayals of ancient Egypt passed off as fact. What is the motivation for weighing in on this particular one? Is claiming that Cleopatra was black so much worse than claiming that ancient Egyptians were incapable of great feats of engineering? If so, why?

I just looked up a list of many of the women who have played Cleopatra on stage and screen. Most of them are white, although with race-blind casting, there are several non-white actresses who have played her one stage. Of course, she was also played by men back in the day when all female characters were played by men.

Full disclosure: I am in the camp that believes this book is a masterpiece.

Yes! Yes! That’s it. I could not figure out who he looked like

The top screen grab could not possibly look sillier. Surely this is from a HS production of the Taming of the Shrew.

Why do you need to make a photorealistic rendering of an animal character in a movie that includes mermaids? Mermaids do not exist, so the very presence of mermaids means nothing else needs to look like an actual animal. Sure, you can make it 3D and have it digitally integrated with human actors, but it does not have

No one is being forced to watch the series, right?

Now playing

Doorway to Where” is a clear reference to “Where Do I Go” from Hair.

Lust on the Dust” is pretty good on acid. Also “Brazil”. This is a pretty idiosyncratic subject.

Peter Capaldi! Hugh Grant! I love this movie with a fiery passion.

While I can think of several more to add, I really can’t complain about the list. What a decade! It’s hard to pick only 20, and I won’t even quibble about order.

During the most recent episode, I reminded my husband how long the girls end up spending in the woods versus how long they have been there so far, and he was very incredulous. I was, like, you have to just go with it. This does not make sense, but that’s OK.

Ahem, The Color Out of Space.
