What methodology was used to determine the ranking? If it’s worst to best “in the opinion of one staff writer who maybe chatted with a few more and put it together to meet a deadline” or even “based on what some AI text generator said” that’s all well and good, but just say that.

It’s a damn good movie. It’s hard to know where to put it on a list that includes so many masterpieces, but it’s damn good.

Good take. Think about it like the stories King Arthur’s court and the Knights of the Round Table. There are A LOT of stories in there, many of them self-contradictory, and the exact chronology doesn’t really matter.

My daughter had wanted to do this for her 21st birthday, but then she asked if we could go to the CrossFit Games in Madison, WI, instead. Hell yeah! Best. Trip. Ever.

It’s great to see young people protesting, because it means they have not gotten completely jaded. They believe they can still make a difference through speech and (mostly) non-violent action. That’s lovely and encouraging. I am not being sarcastic. I was a college student protesting shit in the 80s, and I’m all for

Both states are heavily reliant on an immigrant work force, so there’s that.

OK, so Texas and California secede. Far fetched, but whatever. I was actually curious about what happens to the two states that separate them. Are New Mexico and Arizona pretty much coerced into going along with it?

But remember, even if a large state votes for a candidate in what we would consider a landslide (say 60/40) that’s a crap ton a people who voted against the candidate. Now let’s say the margin was more like 55/45 or 52/48.

And there are more progressives in TX than there are in 8 other Western states combined. The only thing there are more of in Texas than progressives is non-progressives, but not by much. This is the problem with a winner take all political system.

There is a similarly themed short story in the absolutely delightful anthology “Live Free or Undead”. Yes, this is a collection of horror stories all set in New Hampshire (and I think all by NH authors) and it’s really fun. Just came here to say that.

I think there are directors who could do it. The question is whether audiences would, well, accept it. The whole trilogy is by its very nature absolutely insane. It doesn’t have answers, because they are unknowable.

I am a huge fan of the trilogy, and when I saw the first few scenes of the trailer I shouted “Oh my god it’s Annihilation” in the theatre. (For the record, I think it’s OK to do that during a trailer, but I would not shout during an actual movie.) Anyway, I was super-excited, and then I was ... kind of disappointed.

Perhaps, but in that case they may have wanted to pick something other than anxiety, which does not go away in adulthood.

He peaked with The Animal.

I’m surprised by how many people get hung up on the name of the podcast. It’s not you the listener who is wrong, it’s one of the hosts. One host stays as naive as possible about a topic and often has the wrong impression about it (just what they may have heard or read in passing about an event). The other host does a

It’s just a name. Anyway, they are not saying the listener is wrong. They are saying that to each other, because one of them is often not knowledgable on the topic, and the other one does a lot of research and explains it.

How can Riley get a new emotion when we have already seen inside the heads of multiple adults and a CAT, and they all have the same basic set of emotions that she does?

The conceit of the podcast is that what they think they know about a thing that they may have been too young to experience directly is often wrong. So one of them researches it deeply and then explains it to the other.

I used to think I did not have time for 17 hours of podcasts, then I listened to the entire back catalogue of The Evolution of Horror. For me podcasts just fly by, because you can listen to them while you are doing anything else (driving, folding laundry, yard work, running, walking the dog, etc.).

I was a grown-ass adult when the trial happened, and there were definitely things they covered that I did not remember. How could I? I was working, not spending all of my time worrying about the trial.
