Planes, just like boats, RVs and other expensive motorized toys, are extremely maintenance-heavy. The failure rate of Cessna’s is partially, as Boter, mentioned due to the sheer volume of them in the skies (Citations are only 8000 as they are in the millions of dollars per, but the 172, the one we all see buzzing…
“Shoes on or shoes off, it’s always gross to prop your feet up on the dash. Don’t do it.”
That, and should you get in a crash, your legs will be folded like a pretzel around your head, your hip bones will have been turn into a fine powder, and your femoral head will be protruding out of your anus.
This fits a great use-case for EV owners. Oftentimes, a street parking spot has a limit of 2 hours give or take. That’s enough time to charge from nearly dead to full if a DCFC or enough to get to your next destination on a 240v ACDC line. It takes up 0 additional space, and is already at a location that people want…
Honestly, I think the new Accord is a better looking BMW than the BMW.
There’s a good reason why I often went out of state when I lived in Texas and was car shopping.
The pre-March ‘22 prices were nearly on-par with equivalent ICE vehicles. A GMC Yukon spec’d as closely as possible as our Rivian R1S pre-order is pretty darn close in price ($77k v $82k). Even with the price increases, if you’re in the market for a 3-row “full” size SUV, there isn’t really a competitor that gives…
Yes. Pretty freaky as someone who lives in Denver and owns a Tesla. (thankfully I very very rarely have to use Superchargers)
The odometer that they already read each year during inspections in Texas would suffice just fine....
Nobody will actually “use” this. It’s too big for a proper off-roading trip. It’s too squishy for proper towing. It’s too thirsty for a people-hauler.
But, oh my, will people ever buy it, despite it being a jack-of-no-trades-nor-a-master-of-anything.
Hi-po EVs do generally have that distinct high pitched whine. Now, don’t expect it on your Chevy Bolt or Tesla, but yes that sound is real (albeit probably volumed up to 11 for marketing)
It’s slowly starting to happen. Colorado requires job posting have salaries (or a reasonable range) posted. Now, this is new, and the law also doesn’t have a ton of teeth, so compliance is a mixed bag...but hopefully that improves over time.
I see a couple R1's a day here in Denver. Vans are a little slower...only seen one so far.
I’ve had the pleasure of taking both a 4Runner and Land Cruiser through some deep shit (joys of living in Colorado), and 2.5 feet can certainly freeze either of those in their tracks in the right circumstances. Obviously, we don’t know all the details, but 30 inches of snow is insanely hard work for pretty much any…
How did you get that picture of my dad’s car?
Okay, but seriously, we were one of the many that had that exact color combo (Pacific Green Metallic with Eddie Bauer trim...hence the tan).
We should put a price (literally) on the adverse impact these vehicles have on our streets, our lives, our infrastructure as a whole. Tax by size/weight and make it a non-trivial amount and watch the size of all vehicles normalize very quickly.
Because cameras never move.
Over 6' tall. I much prefer sitting my wife’s Model 3 over my Land Cruiser. Size certainly isn’t everything.
