I think it is certainly good for player development for mid-tier USMNT players. It pretty clearly isn’t good for the development of the guys we want to lead us past the round of 16 in the World Cup. See: Bradley, Michael.

You set up that scenario as if the fact that the Royals often trailed going into the 8th during the playoffs is indicative of their true talent level. It’s not, or they wouldn’t have been a playoff team in the first place. If anything, they were unlucky in innings 1-7 throughout the playoffs.
Average AL team runs scored, 2015: 710
I’m not saying the Royals were a good team because they won a 7 game series (actually, they won a 5 game series followed by a 7 game series followed by another 7 game series, all against some of the best teams in baseball). I’m saying they were a good team, or at least not “the worst team ever to win the WS,” because…
I certainly get variance. This guy’s argument just sucks. He keeps asking for numbers, yet the only one he’s provided is that the Royals had a league average offense in terms of WRC+. Like, what, is that checkmate or something? Does that end the discussion?
Right, because two regular season series played weeks or months apart are exactly the same as the World Series. I’m really sure the Cubs (and the Phillies, for that matter) were really playing all 7 of those games as if they were playoff games. I’m sure the managers managed those games like they were playoff games,…
That’s the 2006 Cardinals you’re thinking of, genius, since you’re so into accuracy and precision. Maybe also try checking out the team stats on the 2005 White Sox. Or the 2003 Marlins. Or the 2000 Yankees. Or... or... or... just get your head out of your ass and give up this argument.
So maybe go back and edit your original comment to say “one of the worst offensive teams to win the World Series” then. Holy shit, I get your point, but maybe just actually read what people are saying in response to you. Your argument sucks. You’re like a FanGraphs commenter on super retard steroids.
Cool! Their team ERA+ was 111 (although let’s admit it, their rotation was just good while their bullpen was otherworldly) and they lapped the field in defensive runs saved, nearly doubling the 2nd place Giants. It’s almost like they built a team designed to win close games, which are more frequent in the playoffs,…
Their season long (large enough sample for you, genius?) run differential was better than 3 of the previous 5 WS champs (exceptions were the ‘13 Sox and the ‘10 Giants). “Worst WS winner ever” starts to fall apart, oh, I’d say right about there.
You have completely missed the main point of baseball, which is to score runs. It doesn’t matter when you score them.
I too work for a Vault 100, and we have more than 1000 attorneys, and I’ve never seen letterhead like this (helps that I’m corporate, not lit). While it might not be required, though, I agree that it makes for a good dog and pony show when you want to try to scare someone.
Agree, MLB should change the rules so that runs scored after the 7th inning are only worth 0.5 runs. That would be more fair to pisspants crybaby Mets/Blue Jays/whatever your team is fans.
Not sure about that. I work at a competitor of Paul Weiss’s, with offices in substantially the same locations, and we have about 400 fewer words on ours.
I’m trying to read some of your comments but all I keep coming up with is YAY YAY MLS BOO BOO PEOPLE WHO DON’T LIKE MLS
Kill yourself, Goose Gossage
I hear you, I hate it when people point a gun at me and force me to read content from a free website.
Definitely not. Gun in the mouth > Tebow
Leave retarded exercises like that to retards like Simmons please.
Fellow Broncos fan here. Which would you rather have, 8 weeks of Bradford and 8 weeks of Siemian while Bradford is hurt, or 16 weeks of Sanchise?
The answer is: a gun in the mouth.
