Muscle cars sound good though! At least with a proper exhaust. On the other hand, Open-piped Hardleys and I4 sportbikes sound terrible

One can still hear a loud Harley that is approaching from the rear, whilst in one’s car though. I f’king hate loud Harleys and loud I4 sportbikes but the effectof making oneself noticed cannot be denied. Whether this leads to fewer deaths is a different issue however (I suspect there’s no real observable effect)

Doppler effect aside, I have heard Harleys coming from behind me...but if one has to rely on loud pipes to safe one’s life, one clearly isn’t a good rider

mate - why do you feel you HAVE to associate with the Jeep crowd if you bought one? I live in Calgary, Alberta, where lifted Wranglers that only occasionally go off-road are very very popular, and if I owned one I certainly wouldn’t join the “bro” crowd.

They have that horrid cafe racer based on the Sportster that every magazine utterly lambasted

young people definitely want bikes that are BASED on Harleys. Witness the rise of the website Bike Exif and how popular bobbers, dirt-track style bikes and cafes based on HDs are. The problem is that unlike Triumph, HD doesn’t really offer any good and cost-effective starting points out of the store

They didn’t have the same allure because they never truly competed with the Japanese. Perhaps they couldn’t, I don’t know. But there’s a reason that BMW stopped making the R1200S and started making the S1000RR, which was a resounding sales success. Buell could/should have done the same

So you think they should offer, what? A 150cc model meant to compete with Bajaj in India or Thailand?? Harley, Ducati, et al., were ALWAYS going to be competing for those countries richest 1%

I’m a motorcycling elitist, and started with a scooter in my early 20s and built my way up, trackdays, touring on multiple continents, etc. I used to be a “YOU HAVE TO START WITH A 500 OR SMALLER” type of guy.

um no. There IS a happy medium. its possible to turn away from a REGULAR car for a sec while driving to change the radio, etc., and to do so safely. In a Tesla one can do a bit more, but not much more arguably. This woman was flat out in a coma essentially and autopilot isn’t meant for that!

I’ve left my car running with a manual and proximity key LOL. Admittedly it was for like 5 seconds, and I turned it off as soon as I exited the car

False equivalence. Manuals are a pleasure to operate, I wouldn’t say the same of physical keys necessarily. (I guess they are, but then I love the push-button start and proximity key of my manual STI - though my keys are so bulky to leave in my pocket, so they sit in the cupholder til i exit)

hear hear!

DC >> Marvel for emotion

“Could I just jump in on this one and know what’s going on?” When would that ever be true even for the stupidest of series??? Even Fast and Furious has some plot elements where its helpful to have seen the first couple at least. What the absolute fuck is wrong with your brain?

You’re a middle aged dude stuck in your life who can’t even drive a manual transmission and doesn’t own anything close to that. You’re pathetic and you’re basically Lester Burnham in American Beauty. Now shut the fuck up and suck my dick

Why don’t you make me you middle-aged middle manager fucktard? Pretty sure if we met up in real life I could beat the shit out of you so wind your fucking neck in

dude - do you think I’m trying to dick you around and second-guess you? I live in Canada and don’t exactly know how far OH is from CT, I merely wrote it down as an option.

Is there an era in which you believe there to be a more democratic array of sports cars?

The fact that you consider the Golf “boy racer” is absolutely ridiculous. There’s like 60 yr old guys on the Pistonheads forum who have like, a Ferrari, and a Golf R for daily driver duties. It looks like ANY other Golf! And the Focus looks like a normal Focus if you get it in any colour than Nitrous Blue!
