I live in Japan, and gaming is shit in Japan. This is just my personal understanding from the following observations:

This monologue resonated with me. Most people grow up in one place, with one language that their identity is defined within. Growing up in many different cultures has it’s upsides and downsides.

At this point people have had enough of Mega Man re releases, and those who really want to play these classics will just use emulators. Capcom will take the abysmal sales numbers of this legacy collection as “proof” nobody is interested in Mega Man.

Great trailer! Starts off by making the player look insanely powerful, blasting familiar monsters left and right. Then as it reveals the new monsters, the reality of monster hunter is shown as the player gets kicked around by these beasts. I want it.

I agree. Yet here in Japan, the fandom is real. Can’t go a day without seeing Asuka or Rei used for promotions somewhere.

I’m dabbling making a platformer and yeah, changing the framerate means you need to change nearly all values in your game. When switching 30fps-60fps Speeds need to be reduced in half, alarms need to be doubled and other values such as gravity and friction values need more complex calculations.

I hope you are right. I hate to sound like some snob when I say this but, full game experiences are always going to be better than the quick fix mobile in my opinion. There will be exceptions on both sides, but games made for dedicated gaming platforms will always be the kinds of experiences that made me fall in love…
