Actually, this was supposed to be positioned directly as an M3 beater. I had an in-depth discussion with Jim Wangers (Pontiac marketing manager at the introduction of the original GTO) at a car show around 2006 and he explained that they directly bench marked the M3, and made sure to beat it in every category.

That's Honda's race track - Twin Ring Motegi.

Yamaha made skis?

How has no one mentioned any of the Subarus? The entire engine is in front of the centerline of the front axle. All subaru engines are longitudinally mounted with the front differential built into the transmission directly behind the engine flywheel.

Thank you for this - this is amazing!

You forgot about the part where he said most cars don't have spark plugs anymore. I cringed when he said that!

Well first off -the accessory/ fan belt is never combined with the timing drive - they are completely different systems. Occasionally the timing belt willdrive a water pump, but that is about it. With modern closed-loop idle systems its unlikely you would see an engine speed difference if the fan belt is slipping

Fan belt slippage...?

Absolutely. This just outlines how to record findings during testing. How useful is "The ignition switch is terrifying!"? They want the report to say "The ignition switch turned off x times and caused this issue".

I don't know - they had their quirks, but for a first effort diesel they weren't bad. The first car I remember my family having was a Cutlass diesel - I distinctly remember the interior smelling like diesel lol. I was just talking to my dad about the car a few months ago and he really liked it - he said it was

I've always thought the Carrera GT's engine was particularly beautiful. (Especially for modern standards)

"That new Miata Concept car with the taped on headlights sure is ugly..."

My Dad's '68 Z/28 has a M-22 in it. God I love that sound, especially on decel!

Probably because the only manual cars were 305's. All the 350's were autos. Plus that chassis is about as stiff as a wet noodle.

Beautiful car.

How did Duntov not make the list!?

That was some impressively terrible driving

Moment of inertia FTW

Now playing

Wow I had no idea they were putting out power like that. Impressive
