I remember this book being super rapey, right? I know at one point the protagonist almost literally tells someone “You’re saying no, but your body is saying yes”.
It’ll be interesting to see if that makes it into the show.

My biggest issues are A. There’s no way Sam Vimes would be caught dead in that outfit. Dormer is a great choice though... and B. These images make me fear they’re going to downplay the comedy.
Are we talking “Black Mirror/National Anthem” levels of discomfort?
Reminds me of that bit from Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency:
That’s weird, my memory is that he was surprisingly non-pushy about having sex with her. He was ready to back off if she wanted to?
I haven’t seen the episode in over a year, but I remember that being the first hint that he might be an OK guy deep down. (Although, he definitely did a few other jerky things at other…
Why not vanish it while it’s still in your colon? Would that create the risk of accidentally disemboweling yourself?
The problem is that John C. Reilly is playing Watson in the upcoming Holmes & Watson. So the MCU now has two Sherlocks and THREE Watsons.
I also saw it before it was fully revealed to be fake, also found it scary as hell.
Absolutely! I am not usually a binger, but I watched all of the episodes in one afternoon. It’s brilliant!
Totally agree, I’m 100% on board with the eyes.
I would love to see them adapt the C0DA “Landfall” storyline where everyone has to move to the moon.
I love the irony of the fact that Dr. Strange is probably the only earth-based person in these movies who actually doesn’t have a made-up name. I hope Strange points this out to Peter, though.
It’s been many years since I’ve seen TLS, but as a kid, the aspect that really intrigued me was the fact that they left behind a robot copy of Alex to take the hero’s place. Wasn’t there actually a minor side-plot about the robot trying to fit into Alex’s life? That was so cool!
If our lives depended on my kids being silent, we’d be dead in seconds.
The argument that living forever is “selfish” is the same as the argument that not having children is selfish — basically, you’re advocating on behalf of entities who don’t exist. It’s logically suspect at best.
Exact same thing happened to me. It was in the book section of a department store, though. I have never watched the film version and I’m not sure I’d want to.
Just this week I discovered that this story was heavily inspired by William Hope Hodgson’s The House on the Borderland. Great book.
Wow... Did the Bird Box producers read the right book? “Flaming alien hell reigns (sic) down from above” is not even remotely something that happened at any point in the story. I don’t think it was ever even specified that the monsters were aliens.
Semi-related question: Has anyone ever compiled a “Condensed Highlander” episode list? Like, I’d really like to watch the show but I don’t have time for a gazillion episodes. What are the essentials?
