The scientists need to ask themselves one question. How would you feel if you were out in the woods minding your own business and some jerk tranquilized you and chopped off your manhood?

I'd be totally OK with that, but like another commenter said, I'd be afraid that some idiot would call the cops.
My rule is that I have to be able to maintain eye contact, and be able to make it to the car in 10 steps or less. This rules out just about everything other than paying for gas or carrying packages into the UPS store. I'd never leave the car on though.
Wow. I knew that they did this as an option on business accounts, but doing it as an opt-out feature for home users is shady. I'm not sure how much I trust the modem to segregate the networks properly, not to mention I'm not thrilled about them adding even more interference into the wifi spectrum.
Around here, Costco gas is cheaper, but it is also much higher in ethanol. That means that you get less MPG and if you have an older engine not meant for ethanol, it gunks it up quicker.
My rule for loaning money (this includes friends & family too) is that I don't. If I wouldn't gift that person the amount of money they're asking, then I won't loan it to them either. If you give them money not expecting it to be returned, then there are no hurt feelings if it isn't. If they happen to pay you back…
Most drugs in tablet or capsule form are totally fine after the expiration date. Most drugs have an expiration date that is arbitrarily set as 1 year from the date dispensed at the pharmacy. Master packs at the pharmacy have much later expiration dates. There are exceptions of course, notably liquid children's…
I think it has to do with what language family your native tongue is in. For an American learning Russian or vice versa, it is more difficult than an American studying Spanish or a Russian studying Belarussian. At least in my experience, Russian was orders of magnitude more difficult to pick up than Spanish.
One-thing's for sure, the textbook publishers will be in heaven. One more reason why you absolutely have to buy the 27 1/2th edition instead of one of the perfectly fine and highly discounted prior editions.
Watch out with the SOG. I used to sell those, and you can really pinch the hell out of your hand if you open them wrong. We're talking minor flesh wounds before you even realize you screwed up. Compound leverage is awesome, but be careful.
Just out of curiosity, are there guys that are? I know I'm not thrilled about it, but when I was in my early 20s and newlywed, sometimes I just didn't care. At the beginning or end it isn't so bad, but full on period sex is just way too messy.
Yep. I have a lot of respect for the husband not killing her in her sleep. They actually have security on hand to break things up if it gets too heated. The wife was an entitled "Real Housewives" style bitch and I could barely put up with her the 4 hours or so I was on set. She would get pissed and come hang out…
I was hired once as a technical consultant for a p;articularly trashy ABC reality show. I felt so bad for those poor (albeit well-paid) people who got suckered into participating. It was a horrible experience to begin with, but between the selective editing and all the manipulation happening behind the scenes, the…
I've never heard it called ROWE, but that is essentially the management strategy that I use. I'm a firm believer that there is no such thing as a bad employee, only bad managers. I treat my people like adult human beings, and they get things done. At the end of the day, everyone's happy.
One of my engineering professors used to work for a jet engine manufacturer and was in charge of investigating catastrophic failures from bird strikes and other causes. He had some interesting stories like the time a turbine broke loose and buzz-sawed the plane in half. He said that to this day, he prefers to take…
It's like a nightly chigger attack. Bites itch like hell, and good luck killing all the little bastards.
The first commandment of tech support is:
Our midwife told us that one of her clients ran a 9 minute mile while in stage 1 labor on a dare from her husband. This is far from the norm, obviously, but from what I understand, as long as you keep your activity level the same or lower than what it was prior to pregnancy, you'll be fine. There are exceptions of…
TMI WARNING!!!
Nope. The best way to make an easy-to-peel boiled egg is to use a pressure cooker.
