It infuriates me that crimes against women are not considered hate crimes. This was a domestic situation, which as stated, is indicative of larger acts of violence against women—like the recent yoga studio shootings. I was still in elementary school when this happened, so the only memories I have of it from the time are those of the jokes and punchlines, of a woman so crazy to have done something like this. And that’s all I really understood of it well into my adulthood.

The film version of A Walk to Remember sucks, because they botched the ending. When you read the book, it says that her unlikely recovery would be a miracle, then one of the last lines of the book is him saying he now knows that miracles come true. The miracle wasn’t them having been in love, it was her recovery. 

I have a narrow cobalt band because I’m allergic to anything else. It hasn’t come off my cold, dead hands in nearly 4 years.
