As David French put it in the National Review, when he sees “activists” trying to “destroy” Covington boys, he thinks: “That could be my son.”

Can we also talk about the ridiculousness of a pack of teenage boys being terrified for their lives while being “accosted” by African Israelites? Why are we letting that skate? That’s not a reasonable fear, it’s in itself borne out of deep racism.

I think this a situation in which we use sociological lenses to analyze specific events unfolding in real time can have unintended blowback. For example, I think it's a misplaced criticism of “balance” seeking media. This isn’t a panel in which they bring in a pundit to counter someone else’s partisan interpretation.

They didn’t catch him as a result of the mass DNA sampling, the police spokesperson stated it was “good old fashioned police work” that caught him. He was tested on Tuesday and it was confirmed then. The mass sampling was not necessary.

I’m not sure how nurse rotations work (maybe someone who does could weigh in?) but I agree it seems suspect no one else noticed. Perhaps she wasn’t presenting with notable pregnancy symptoms (even women in healthier states than her sometimes don’t notice they’re pregnant), or perhaps they were negligent and barely

My wife works with a nurse who caught a fellow nurse in the act of raping an elderly woman with severe dementia.  When she reported it SHE was the one who was suspended for neglect until she fought it for months with the union.

Nah, this has been happening way before Trump. You do not want to even imagine how many grandmothers in nursing homes have been sexually assaulted. You think the the scale of priests molesting kids in churches is horrifying? The extent of sexual assault in nursing homes, once it comes to light, will be even worse.

Bastard.

Its just the name of the charge likely. In Canada "rape" doesn't exist in the criminal code. It was changed to "sexual assault" in an attempt to magnify the "assault" aspect to make it sound worse. (Whether or not it did is debatable), but regardless, I'm sure the charge of sexual assault here is equivalent to what we

Likely they want to clarify her condition. I suppose it’s similar, though not entirely comparable to say if your child has autism, and someone said they had down syndrome. You would likely correct them.

Legal definitions. Rape is the English word we use for it, but under the legal codes, it may fall under the umbrella of sexual assault that doesn’t differentiate between specific acts.

I totallly agree with you but the issue is that people, most likely this woman included, can survive in a vegetative state with relatively little life support. Like maybe a feeding tube and that’s it. While I’m all for cutting someone off life support, starving someone to death would be pretty horrible. Assuming she

That struck me as odd too... From a quick googling:

Just because the family put this out there a few days ago:

Indeed it’s a miracle the child was born healthy, but how will the child handle the news of how he was born when he’s old enough to understand?

Why sexual assault and not rape or both? I never understand how, when, and where the terms legally apply. It seems this is absolutely rape. I am not going to use specific terminology here because I don’t want to bring up trauma for any survivors reading this, but I would think the pregnancy is proof that more than

She was vegetative, not comatose. She has very limited cognitive ability, can’t do much but can respond to certain things.

Don’t kid yourself - people have been abusing the totally helpless in this way since waaaaay before Trump.

Glad the got this prick. Was sure it was a patient. It’s disgusting that such an act would be committed by a nurse, as they know how vulnerable their patients are. He’s certainly not the first one, probably won’t be the last.

Well, I’m glad they found him quickly. Better late than never... and it sounds like the child will have a good life with his grandparents (who, depending on whether they had other children besides the victim, may not have ever dreamt they could have grandchildren).
