It was just an (obviously poor) attempt at poking fun of how one-sided the Majors coverage has been on both sites. I find it amusing that two sister sites have such wildly varying takes on the same case, that’s all. Nothing was meant regarding the reporting of either site in general, or the opinions of any oppressed…
That would mark him as a rather poor Jesus impersonator, though.
Well, I did try to imply that there was at most a razor-thin line of separation between the two, but I don’t know how well I pulled it off...
I agree with that sentiment 100%, but at the end of the day, how can we get the studios to pay the below-the-line workers during a strike? To them, it’s just further leverage; paying them costs money and costs them leverage.
I’m not going to bother actually going to these sites to check my predictions, but I’m guessing something like the following headlines are being displayed:
Well, that’s because you’re actually a bastard. Or a son of a sea-cook, depending.
Give Disney two or three years and they’ll quietly shelve it.
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I vaguely remember a time when Maher was mostly respected as a bright free thinker who spoke uncomfortable truths without regard to societal proprieties. Was there some incident that caused a large number of people to turn on him, or was it a gradual process of stepping on different…
Um, I’m just saying they did something wrong and stupid and emotional and understandably human; I’m not fixated on either exonerating them or excoriating them. I’d rather direct my ire and energies to opposing those who are actively trying to make life worse for large segments of the population in order to be just a…
That’s why I’m not too hard on the various letter-writers; for all I know, they were told by the C0S Masterson’s family that the letters would only be read by the judge, and made an emotional decision that, while I believe to be wrong, is at least understandable and human.
Apparently they’re mad that Rupp and Smith aren’t getting exactly the same amount of media attention for this as Kutcher and Kunis. You know, like how Disney and WB insisted that Mickey and Bugs get exactly the same amount of dialog and be on screen for exactly the same length of time in Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
So, in other words, small-town cops on a power trip?
Bringing this out of the greys because while I may be grumpy old man of the mountain who disagrees with you, this opinion still deserves exposure.
Oh sure, gripe about “nepo baby” being added; as annoying as the term is, at least it means something distinct from other terms. Where was this disdain when “ginormous” was added? Huh? What does that superfluous portmanteau word offer that isn’t better provided by “immense” or “huge”?
If they drop Weird: The Al Yankovic Story, we riot.
The Church has no policy prohibiting or discouraging members from reporting criminal conduct of anyone—Scientologists or not—to law enforcement. Quite the opposite, Church policy explicitly demands Scientologists abide by all laws of the land. All allegations to the contrary are totally FALSE.
It’s hard to argue against most of Linklater’s observations here, but on the other hand movie making has never been as cheap, easy, and accessible before. I think we may be in the early stages of a massive shift in how movies are distributed, watched, and become (or not) a part of the cultural discourse; that doesn’t…
I thought it was the new I want to do a cartoon voice.
Of course, if someone consults a witch (or a shaman or an evangelical prophet or a snake handler) and their movie doesn’t get made, you never hear about that story...
