My grandfather had a paperback copy of that book when I was a kid, and I loved it. Sadly, I don’t know what happened to his copy, but I found a hardcover, spiral-bound copy in a used book store several years ago, and it holds a place of pride in my bookshelf.

Shouldn’t that be Pratt’s lack of Italian accent?

There are damn few celebrity deaths that touch me personally, but this is one of them. RIP, Burny; thanks for all the entertainment you’ve worked on through the years (up to Strange World!) and for all the people you helped and mentored along the way.

Chute, you beat me to the punch.

First of all: sorry for assuming you were trying to defend Adams.

I’ll agree that if you come here for “reporting” you’re already failing.

I grew up in Mississippi, and we only heard about one sentence more of that speech in school. I’ll let you guess the sentence.

You certainly went through more effort than I did, and in retrospect, I probably should have checked as well before assuming it was just a standard trolling “deflection as defense” comment. My bad for jumping to a conclusion.

The reason I don’t go to TikTok is to avoid the full crazy, thank you very much.

Back in the ‘90s when I read it daily, I always assumed that Dilbert himself was more or less Adams’ stand-in in the strips. Nowadays I’m wondering if it wasn’t Dogbert all along.

Yes, I had a brain fart; if we still had downvotes, I would deserve all the downvotes for getting the quote technically incorrect.

The really funny thing is, apparently he’s already done it; he mentioned during his 57-minute (?!) rant that that’s why he’s living in an area with few to no Black people.

Or if they asked white US residents if they had a positive or negative impression of the statement “Black lives matter.”

From the article:

It’s in the article’s subhead; why they didn’t include it in the article proper, I’ll never know.

Jim Babwe, in his reply to kingdom2000, provided what I feel is sufficient context for the quote, and I agree that it would have been better if the actual AV Club article had provided that context in the first place.

Technically true, and that’s the best kind of true.

There’s a link to the video in this very article for you to research. The fact that you didn’t report on your findings makes me think that you don’t really care whether there’s any sort of context that makes “get the hell away from Black people” non-racist; you’re just trying to sow doubt to defend your guy.

I’m not sure being a world-class asshole is always an emotional problem, though.

Can I at least cry over hatched chickens?
