Musk sucks, yes. But isn’t maybe the bigger part of all this that she wants to take his kids to California and he wants to keep them in Texas where he lives? Have I mentioned he sucks?

I kind of agree, but your amounts are way off on what he could be potentially be paying if we take the following examples into consideration. Case in point:
The early model S motors has steel bearings instead of ceramic. Magnetic flux eats steel balls because the balls have a slight electrical charge and that has material transfer. I wonder if they are not updating the old motors to the newer ceramic bearings. Or maybe that’s just how long they last.
There’s tons of BMWs out there with over 200k on original engine and trans. And those are BMWs. Those Northstar equipped "limos" that were just Cadillac Devilles COMMONLY had over 400k on them when those were popular limos in the early 2000s. Let's not forget about Panther platform cars, same thing. Pretty sure it’s…
My 2007 Sienna (with the 2GRFE) is at 240k miles at this point. I have changed nothing on it except the oil, every 5k miles, religiously. Runs like a top.
My mom’s 2000 Expedition and 2011 Explorer both made it to around 300k with the original engine and trans before she sold them. The Expedition only had an alternator replaced late in its life.
I’d actually say most modern cars can make it 200k. My Ford C-Max has 245k miles on it right now, and has been the most economical car I’ve ever delivered in.
Every Japanese car I’ve owned made it for over 200,000 miles. I didn’t even buy most of them until they had 100k on them. Unless you don’t believe in oil changes or scheduled maintenance (or live in a rust belt) any Toyota/Honda/Nissan from the mid 90s and up should make it to 200k miles. Cars don’t last, by and…
My 2000 Celica GT-S went 384,000 miles and ran like new for 20 years until a deer killed it. All I had to do was change the oil often and take good care of it. Was only on its second clutch too. But mostly I think too many cars are unloved and neglected.
Ha, that definitely is not an exhaustive list and Redblocks get props, too. The only cars I have seen with my own eyes rolling over 500k on a (supposedly) original drivetrain is them three and an old Mercedes SL v8. I’m also drawing from when I worked at Jiffy Lube in the 90s, so I’m probably leaving a few newer cars…
Hundreds of thousands of redblock-equipped Volvos would beg to differ. As do their whiteblock successors.
Outside of the Mercedes 300D, Toyota Hilux, and some 4th-gen Civics, there aren’t a lot of cars out there that can survive 200K+ miles at all, let alone without major powertrain rebuilds and replacements. The three batteries ain’t bad at all, but I’m kind of surprised by the motor replacements.
So it’s irresponsible to drive anywhere but a paved road?
Degenerate behavior begets disdain. Around the world people recognize that “brolanders” are the plague and act accordingly. In America, such behavior is condoned and rewarded.
For good reason. They hardly have any public land and much of the “open access” land is private. It’s not like America where our National Parks are larger than all of the UK put together. They just do not have any wiggle room and have to persevere what is left of their open space with vigor. When you drive the…
Sounds like you’re a real treat at parties as well. Let alone you’re failure to check your biases as you remain willfully ignorant of the conservation efforts put forth by the off-roading community.
I bet Veronica is a real blast at parties and I bet the “AdFree Cities” offices are just a ton of fun.
Socially responsible or not, that Hilus still looks better than the Tacoma. If the Feds would only let me, I’d travel to Mexico and buy one right now.
“sure is funny how a call from a local news org suddenly puts everything right.”
While it sounds like a dumb data-entry screwup at Westlake, I wouldn’t be surprised if the dealership had pocketed the last few months’ payments and told Westlake they were delinquent.
