Yes, people are deluded into purchasing or spending via the constant deluge of advertising and “low” payments. We live in a consumption society. Look at all of the retail versus actual manufacturing and exporting. 

Some of the garage problems are also with developers and or builders. Maximize space of the development, squeeze as many houses as possible onto the property to maximize profits.

I miss the ammeter and oil pressure gauges. 

I have two which makes six in my neighborhood. One manual and one auto for me, both E46 models as well as two other E46's in the area. Two others are E90 models.
