But they still have time to have the QB go to the sideline and talk it over. This is the bit I don’t like. I’m suggesting they replace the “30 second TO” with a “0 second TO” - basically, huddle up then run the next play. The timeout should just stop the clock.

I’m not complaining about the commercials themselves. I just don’t like that mediocre coaches get the crutch of being able to talk it over, when all they needed to do was stop the clock to run one or more plays.

My point is there are situations where the critical need is to stop the clock, you know, a ‘time out’. Like if they don’t want the opponent bleeding the clock, or they want to run another play.

This has bothered me for a while. Why can’t a ‘timeout’ just stop the clock and reset the play clock back to 35 seconds or whatever it is?
