I certainly don’t believe that they’ve had 800,000 requests, but they may well have more requests than available seats - I think they allow more reservations than there are seats, so that seating is first come-first served among ticket holders. Then they can show the long lines out the door of people who want to touch…

I’m always fascinated by the paradox of cop-lovers’ vision of the police: they’re brave, heroic warriors who protect the citizenry from chaos, but they’re also so fragile, so frightened, so unable to defend themselves from the citizenry that they must be permitted to respond to disobedience with force.

My initial thought, too. Even if we weren’t in the middle of nationwide protests making white supremacists nervous, even if this weren’t happening in other places at the same time, concluding quickly that this was a suicide is suspicious.
