I think the big problem isn’t that people aren’t willing to wait for the buildup, it’s that the core characters being focused on in Phase 4 don’t have the charisma or team dynamic that made Phases 1-2 work even with a few of the more mediocre stories.

I really appreciate the “don’t give money to the big guys who lobby to make you have to pay them to prepare and file your taxes every year on top of more money if you have a complicated tax situation or want every opportunity for deductions” attitude but I really don’t think I’d be comfortable actually doing this.

I mean, people show up to watch rally, and you only see one tiny fraction of the action on each stage, a few seconds per car, with a lot of downtime in which you see nothing but empty road. Probably be the same for the air races.

Onboard cameras. Drones. Television coverage. Virtual reality. Having the planes take off, or land in front of the spectators during a regular air show. The techie mind boggles.

The only way you could make a better game that Civilization IV, is if you took the Civ IV Caveman to Cosmos mod, and simply improved the graphics, mouse controls, and UI, but kept all the newly added game mechanics in place.
