Neutral: I feel like part of the issue is trades people, especially in services (contractor, mechanic, repairman, etc.) are often seen as sleazy, or scammers. Other than bringing down the prestige of the position, people probably don’t want to be associated with a field of people who will say your breaks are

High school teachers don’t have any profit motive. They’re the one who encourage their students to get higher education. Once someone is in university they’ve already made their decision.

There’s some railroad tracks near my house. Can I just park it there and live in it?

Library, and cost (for them and consumers). The Switch is considerably less portable, and costs double. Especially if you’re a family with children eating the costs of several switches to be the handheld for your children would be insane, especially compared to the DS family.

I think they don’t want to give information away because they fear people will “skip” certain ones if they think the next one will be better. At least with CoD when it comes out every year people could wait. Other series I can’t say, like Final Fantasy or Metroid which have much longer cycle times.

I’ve been thinking about this lately. Could a sports car brand build a truly cheap sports car that people would buy? Outside of the “Brand” aspect of luxury cars, could say Porsche build a cheap sports car, that is Slow-Car-Fast?

Up here in Canada, Mazda is killing it. I see 3s all over the place. Sure, maybe the new gen is a bit less common than the 1st and 2nd, but it still seems like a strong seller. Mazda builds really good cars and they should sell better, but people still just buy Toyotas because they’re boring.

+1 on the Mazda 3 for sure. I loved mine for 10 years and drove the crap out of it and got great millage. My uncle still drives it 4 years later. Only issue that it’s ever had were the rear struts, but its a cheap and easy fix.

I mostly agree with your points but with some key differences. Protectionist subsidies like this are largely dumb, especially on a consumer good like this where there are better/cheaper alternatives from the global market.

Really? The ONLY thing stopping you from even considering looking for a new car is some fake vents? I bet they’re there for a styling reason because they would look dumb, soft, and fat otherwise. But I guess you don’t care about style, and want pure function so there’s always a Ford Transit to meet all of your

You’re not buying a product with Kickstarter. You’re investing in an idea, but instead of owning a part of the company, you get their product if they’re successful. It’s a risk for sure, I’ve kickstarted a bunch of things, and some have worked out amazingly (FTL, POE, others) and others not so much, but it’s not

Canada takes its engineers very seriously. Calling yourself an engineer can get you fined, but it would have to involve some form of misrepresentation, such as using your unqualified title to get a job or approve documents. Several companies have been fined for calling their employees “Engineers” when they were not

Neutral: I’m already seeing it, especially on less common/desirable cars. People in the used market seem to just want something cheap/reliable, so they still just want Toyotas. They are still holding their value, while newer Subarus and Mazdas are dirt cheap comparably.

I love Celicas, but this one just doesn’t do it for me. No hatch, low power, that bumper. It’s in great shape and good on you if its the one you like, but $4200 is too steep for me.

BRZ/86, Mustang, Audi TT, Murano.

Any car layout can be fun. Just because its the easiest/simplest/cheapest layout doesn’t make it inherently bad. Lots of FWD cars are way more fun than lots of RWD cars as well as the other way.

I can’t speak for all Subaurs, but my parents have a 2016 Outback Limited, and the Star Link system that’s in there is pretty solid. Its quick and pretty intuitive with a pretty solid GPS system. That being said, I still want Android Auto in my next car.
