From a live event perspective it makes perfect sense to have a bit of a buffer to get shit working properly before going live. But 1 hour just seems too long when nothing is horribly broken. A reasonable compromise should be to begin that work in the background, and let the wait for viewers be 15 minutes tops.

I specifically mentioned having one on a PS4 and one on a PS5. That seems to be the scenario they’ve designed it around, and it’s fine for that scenario.

I reckon this is so you can transfer your save from your PS4 and get this on your PS5 without needing PS Plus or a USB memory. It’s completely fair for drive space in that situation, and a reasonable solution for that situation too.

The crypto crash can’t come soon enough. The only hope for the LHR cards is that they somehow cross the threshold where the expected ROI from one card is lower than the cost of the card.

Ars Technica tested it and the 3080 Ti gets about 25% less hash rate than the old 3080. The reason it’s not labeled LHR is because there’s no old non-LHR SKU to differentiate it from. Nvidia also noted that this is the default on all their GPUs going forward.

The word at that time was that they were going to make mining-specific cards without video out and gaming cards with LHR. So who knows really. Then again it makes sense for the Ti SKU to be fully unlocked.

They did state earlier that all their future cards will include anti-crypto firmware. Hopefully(?) that includes these Ti cards.
