I wouldn’t hold my breath for a PC port. But if you can wait it might not be a terrible idea to hold off until we get some info on the next part. The first part feels like a fairly complete and satisfying game as is though, so no harm in playing it at any time.

You should totally play FF7R though. It’s literally the best game Square Enix has ever made, all categories.

I think after Yoshi-P stepped in to save XIV he earned a reputation as an amazing project leader. When deciding who should helm the next mainline FF the list was probably quite short. I also think he has mentioned wanting to work on other things than XIV? Read more

The blade teleporting and stuff is straight XV. I hope the dodge is active rather than passive like XV though. That always adds an element of skill on top of otherwise generic fights. Hopefully they learned that from 7R.

The combat so far basically seems like FFXV crossed with LR:FFXIII. For what it’s worth the combat in XV was pretty damn cool (I know that it’s technically ruined by items being both super powerful and cheap, but you can choose not to use them and have a fairly challenging and awesome experience). And the combat in LR Read more

In terms of technology this is very FF1 so far. There was an airship in that game, but that was iirc an ancient magical artifact rather than a technological marvel. Read more

I just watched the trailer again and it seems like the character is using a Phoenix-wing uppercut, Titan punches, and a wind-element air combo of some sort (Garuda!?). Will we go around, capturing/destroying crystals and gaining their power? Am I totally here for a combat system that grows in that manner a la FFV? Read more

Man I’m so glad that Yoshi-P is helming this, because otherwise I’d be scared I’d be stuck hyping this thing for a decade. Now I’m fairly certain we’ll see it soon-ish. I love the seemingly low tech FF-of-old look combined with the dark realities of war. As long as there’s a party of characters and some juicy-ass Read more

Not to mention that neither the companies nor the state wants to spend any money to do it. So the US keeps applying band-aids to old and cruddy systems instead of investing in new future proof infrastructure. Because that’s cheaper, and the investors like that. But sooner or later shit will break.

You’d think some captchas and wait timers would be able to deal with most of the bots.

My PC is pretty damn solid, so I’ll be playing CP2077 on there. FPS games are also as always the PC’s sacred domain for me.

No. But I can’t see them making yet another word for it again, that sounds the same as a previous one.

Honestly the only reason I might hold off on purchasing a PS5 is Cyberpunk. As long as that game releases on time I won’t have the time to play Spider-Man and Demon’s Souls. But I’m probably getting a PS5 the second I’m done with Cyberpunk. The launch titles and release-next-year titles are looking extremely hot. Read more

Old school looking setting with summoners, crystals, white (red?) mages, eikons (FFXIV terminology for eidolons/espers/summons), Yoshida, a seemingly serious setting with war and death and high stakes? Sign me the fuck up. The combat looks FFXV-inspired which, especially if they take some of the good parts from 7R, Read more

The story seems to be presented in a more compelling way though.

As a person who’s into Super Robot Wars, I think I can get behind the mech battles. They look similar at some level. At least if we get to unlock some real badass weapons later on. I’d be even more into it if there were some ludicrous animations to go with the attacks but one can’t get everything.

I don’t mind a sequel requiring knowledge of the previous stuff to make sense. There’s room for movies like that but I don’t fault this for being a “by fans for fans” experience.

Yeah! I watched this super early so I don’t think the complete version existed at that time.
