You explained much better some points I touched on in other posts, namely, current Turner Field employees (maybe GSU will buy Turner and preserve some of those jobs) and population trends over the past 5-10 years. I grew up in the burbs (Gwinnett County) in the 90s, as did all of my current native-Atlantan

I know what Braves Country is. I was born and raised in Atlanta (well, I was raised in one of Atlanta's many hellish suburbs, and I moved downtown several years ago), lifelong Braves fan. You're not telling me anything I don't already know, and even with that knowledge, I wouldn't hold my breath if I were Cobb

I swear, if one more person looks at me with a straight face and says, "BUT HEAT MAP."

They also don't account for corporate tickets, though the folks who attend games with corporate tickets are often clients who aren't necessarily Atlanta/Metro residents. But still, that would change the heat map, too.

Agreed. I'm also worried about the predominantly low-income folks who rely on the Braves for seasonal employment, and won't be able to get to Cobb because there's no MARTA service. Cobb DGAF because most of those people aren't white.

You really think that people are going to be packing Cobb hotels for a fucking baseball game? That sounds realistic.

If you think putting a stadium at the convergence of 75 and 285 is going to solve traffic issues, even for people north of the city, you are a crazy person. Maybe for the people who live on, like, Cumberland Parkway (which is exactly no one, because it's a hellscape of mid-level hotels and chain restaurants).

I live downtown. I go to probably 20-30 games per year, along with my downtown-dwelling friends. Intown neighborhoods are also growing like weeds right now, so to pretend that the only folks who go to games are OTP Cobb/North Fulton is silly.

Actually, the majority of the politicians who pushed this deal through (see: all Cobb County officials) are affiliated with the Tea Party, so ...

Troll is trolling. Just ignore.

Aw, I love using the word "twat" as an insult! It just sounds so funny! I mean, you can only call someone a dick so many times.

My mom was almost named Lucinda, after her maternal grandmother. I actually don't mind the name at all, but she hated it. They ended up naming her Cynthia and calling her Cindy (because Lucindas can also be Cindys), which was much more in line with her fellow Baby Boomers.

I know several Rubys who have been born in the past five years. It's a trendy name, for sure, so maybe bullet dodged?

Oh my god, it's a bar. It is literally just another airport bar where you can overpay for drinks. Chill out.

I've flown in and out of the new international terminal and taken several friends to it, and I didn't think the Plane Train serves it. It's on the other side of the runways.

But the international terminal is a totally separate building and it's a couple miles away from the domestic terminal, right?

In the international terminal? I like the international terminal way more because the bars seem quieter. Is it C concourse that's smaller than the others? One of the concourses is about half the width of the others and it's a special hell, and you can never get a seat at a bar or restaurant.

I mean, I think you can only carry a gun in non-ticketed-passenger areas, but ... your point and joke are still totally valid. I am SO ANGRY at our legislature and Governor Deal for passing and signing that thing, respectively.

I'm with you! My whole family lives in Southern California, and when tickets/schedules permit, I actually fly in and out of John Wayne and avoid San Diego and LAX. They have one terminal, it's clean and spacious, and there's a great bar equidistant to most gates. The security lines are super short, too. When choosing

Huh? I'm fine with it. I'm flying out of Hartsfield next week and if I have time, I will totally get a glass of wine there just to see it for myself.
