Thank you for being the voice of reason on this thread.

Yeah, I do MapMyRun just because I like seeing progression and whatnot. A lack of that visible progression has also been known to guilt me into working hard again, so it's effective for me. Plus, it's cool on the phone app to see everyone else's routes.

Haha, pray away! In the meantime, I'll be doing real stuff ... Yeah, people have offered to keep me in their prayers many times - and I'm sure more than one prays for my damned soul - and I'm like, "Eh, cool, thanks. You mean well, knock yourself out."

I moved back to the Southeast three years ago after a 10-year stint in other parts of the country. Coming back here and working in non-metro communities has taught me to just keep my mouth shut about being an atheist (which, I mean, I would do anyway because there's not something to say about it) because folks would

The essence of Deadspin, captured in one post.

It's an indication that you've given up on so much more than that.

My boyfriend and I recently discovered a service that delivers Taco Bell right to our door. It's going to revolutionize hangovers.

I have eaten regular Taco Bell food for breakfast more times than I care to admit, but those are hangover situations with leftovers. I'm not, like, setting my alarm and driving to Taco Bell at 8:30 a.m. or anything.

Yes, this exactly. It's frustrating.

I love being a woman, but yes, there are a lot more hoops to jump through thanks to gendered expectations. I mostly ignore the expectations and do what I want, though, because I'm selfish.

Flakiness is super annoying, agreed. That's why I'm just an alternate, and never sign up to be part of a league that I know I'll flake on. I have either had enough gender studies to go beyond social conditioning, or I'm an asshole. Either way.

Fucking original stuff, man. Bravo.

I think there's something to this. I also think that women are conditioned to say yes when someone asks them something, especially if it's seen as a favor or something close to it (like hitting a softball gender quota), regardless of whether they really want to do it.

This reminds me that I need to go pick up my Fuck Cobb County shirt tonight.

Also, do they think Atlanta is that sore about the Civil War? Parts of Georgia, maybe, but Atlanta not so much.

How'd you come up with that one?

That article is dead-on, but the problem isn't with the city of Atlanta itself, but the massive shit sprawl of racist white dudes about half an hour north of Atlanta.

Not to mention liberal. Atlanta elected officials are overwhelmingly Democrat. I'm so fucking sick of people think that Atlanta = all of Georgia and the Southeast.

Atlantans themselves are not celebrating the Confederacy. The rest of Georgia, however ...

He said "in Atlanta," not in: Cobb, Gwinnett, North Fulton, Coweta, Clayton, or any of the suburban sprawl hellscapes that get lumped in with Atlanta.
