Does a black man actually name himself “Black Lighting”?
I’m fairly sure Harvy Birdman covered that issue 15 years ago. (“Hey Aquaman, why don’t we just call you WhiteFish?”

I agree. The myth I was raised with was that he was a daring outlaw that protected the poor people from the depredations of the rich and powerful. All the recent live action movies are more about how he was a noble that had his birthright stolen from him, and all those peasants want to be ruled by the guy who was born…
Here in Minneapolis we have had several major suburban malls close in the last 15 years. So far they have all been replaced by those fake “town square” outdoor drive up malls. Which are also failing.
Maybe when *those* die...
I’d prefer to shop in stores, but stores don’t have clothes that fit me. Every store in my local mall apparently caters to 25 years olds with 3% body fat.
Given the choice, I’d much rather shop in person, but I do not have that choice.
The whole problem is that customers can either buy something poorly made that doesn’t fit for no money in a store or they can buy something adequaely made that fits OK for the same amount of money online.
It’s hard to stay in business when you offer an inferior product for the same price. As so many retail chains are…
I hear this alot from old-timers in the hobby, always speaking on the down-low.
There is a very real “Grandpa-Gary” cult around the man, and the fact that he wasn’t always the nicest or most “with it” guy is often just sort of ignored.
The Streisand Effect is alive and well.
I cannot defend it as a good movie, but I’ve always had a bizarre love for “Wildcats”
Goldie stars as a suprisingly on-it coach who is trying to control a super-stereotyped inner-city HS football team lead by Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson, both of whom look like they are 13 years old.
Those of us that grew up on the internet still manage to screw up what is fake news and what is real.
It is tragic that this happened but I’m not going to put a ton of blame on someone who is figuring out how bus schedules work for not diving into the depths of the “vaccines cause autim” cluster F and I’m going to…
OMG yes!
My father was a realtor who always told his clients to figure out what they could afford every month, then work back from that to figure out how much you had to borrow after your down-payment. That was how much you should actually spend on your house. (and don’t forget taxes and association fees!)
The mortgage…
If you just plain didn’t have the info to write it off, then good job on getting it together now!
If on the other hand you didn’t write it off but could have you should look into amending your old returns. You can amend a return that is up to 3 years old. Talk to a tax guy, if you have the info and the savings is…
Your concerns are real.
A counterpoint: My mother has spoken about how she participated in nuclear war drills in jr high (those “duck and cover” things), lived through the deaths of Martin Luthor King and JFK, watched Regan do his thing (she does *not* think he was the greatest president), and is now watching global…
I think the thing that gets lost in “blame the media” is that this is how campaigns have been run in front of the national media since the 70s. In this day and age you need a candidate and a campaign that can deal with the attacks against them without seeming put-upon. (Regan was “the Teflon President” and Obama was…
I suspect #2 would be really politically fraught for staff, but would be so very useful to the students.
I remember a classmate of mine once commented that they would never teach you how to rebuild a carburetor, declare you can drive, and then send you out on the freeway but they are very willing to show you a picture…
Back when “Dear Abby” was a thing my Grandparents had a “best of” book collection of columns that probably dated to the early eighties.
One of the ones I remember was “Birth Control is really expensive and very nessecary with all the sex my partner and I are having, and I’d like my partner to help out with the cost but…
I just started noticing the “enthusiastic consent” thing popping up in the last 5 years or so.
I’m thinking some unheralded soul thought up the better, more accurate term not long before that and it has since worked it’s way into general best practices.
It would be one thing if this was a temporary blip the first month or so after launch. Nintendo gear is super hard to find for many months.
They actually discontinued their Nintendo Classic before I ever saw one at retail.
This is why LeBron James sits out games when the tackiness of the court isn’t to his liking...
A thing I kept hearing about W was that while he was a terrible public speaker and a fairly incompetent administrator he had and has a vast personal magnetism.
Nothing that shows up on TV or behind a podium, but if you spend a few hours with him it is apparently really easy to come away thinking he is the best guy in…
Thanks for saying this.
There is apparently this world out there where straight, married middle-aged men are just constantly ankle-deep in oppertunities for no-strings sex and it’s just their own moral fiber that keeps it from happening but that isn’t the world anyone I know lives in.
